Remember having a large Steiner of Hoegaarden in the Huntsman Pub at the Landmark in Bangkok. I believe the pub has now been closed for a while.

Closed! For a while! My favourite Filipina band through the 1990s and early 20s - in fact can't think when i was last there but i guess 10 years ago

I often enjoy a glass or two of Hoegaarden wheat beer in UK, but I have never come across it in Thailand and imagined that it would be quite expensive. I wonder if any bars stock it ?.

I have never actively looked for it.

I was stuck at a fogbound T1 at Heathrow in 1998 waiting for a flight to Brussels & when I had fought my way to the front of the bar there was a Hoegaarden pump,so I said I'll have a pint of that please.I think she said it's £5 a pint so I said straight away I'll have a half. That was a lot in 98.

In Bruges some years later right outside our hotel we found a bar called Hoegaarden,so I said to the missus we'll have a nightcap here on the way back.I asked the barmaid what time they closed.

Close? she said,we do not close😃.

Correct sir!

I have vague memories of it closing down....Something to do with a new structure that blocked the outside seating area..... or maybe something to do with the toilets...or whatever the political situation was at the time ...

...or maybe it was just a dream....

I have a few bottles in on the basement runway waiting for a social occasion.

Costco (here in the US) is a good source for imported beer at ridiculously low prices. The Duvels were about $2.50us/btl. -- about 87baht.

. . .

First visit to Mai Thai going back about 7/8 years ago now, I supped a couple bottles of Kwak at 8.4%, a bottle of La Corne at 10% and a bottle of raspberry beer which I can`t remember the name off, I was slightly mellow meandering down Naklua road after that meal.

Duvel was once voted the world's best beer. Its lovely but I always preferred Chimay Red or Chimay Blue.

Maybe JL knows but there used to be a great place in Leeds called Beer Paradise. On Immigration Road Iirc.

Me and a few mates would drive over from Lancashire to stock up our Belgian beer supply.

I enjoyed a nice, large glass of Hoegaarden at the Beer Hubb in front of Tree Town. I think it was 269 baht, but the size of the mug was huge, only had one.

But it was maybe the single best beer over the 3 weeks I was over there this past Dec-Jan.
