Passengers and crew onboard a Singapore Airlines flight that hit extreme turbulence over Asia suffered skull, brain and spinal injuries, the head of a Bangkok hospital has said. Twenty people remain in intensive care in the Thai capital, where flight SQ321 made an emergency landing on Tuesday after the terrifying high-altitude ordeal. They include six Britons, six Malaysians, three Australians, two Singaporeans and one person each from Hong Kong, New Zealand, and the Philippines, he said. A 73-year-old British man died and 104 people were injured on the flight, which was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew from London to Singapore. Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, director of Bangkok’s Samitivej Srinakarin hospital, said his staff were treating six people for skull and brain injuries, 22 for spinal injuries, and 13 for bone, muscle and other injuries. “We have never treated people with these kinds of injuries caused by turbulence,” he told reporters. Seventeen surgeries have already been performed — nine spinal surgeries and eight for other injuries, he said. Asked about the prognosis for the most serious cases, Adinun said it was too early to tell if any could suffer permanent paralysis, and doctors would have to observe whether muscle function recovered after surgery. Had knee pain on the RHS last week in Spain ( my good knee 555 ) , but luckily rest , anti inflammatories have helped 👍 I wore a knee support at the gym on Monday and told my Pilates teacher on Wednesday , she tailored the session for me 👍 but have had no pain at all today , so hopefully all good again ✅🤞
