  1. The face of Secrets for all those glory years was Larry. Not Ben. Ben might of owned the bar... but it was " the pretty bitch " that made it all work. He was the one who greeted you by name, introduced you to other BMs, bought you and your friends more rounds than any other owner or managers in all of Pattaya, clued you in to which gal you might like best, and basically turned Secrets into one of the best bars in all of Patters. It was family.

  2. Tend to agree. Mates are only important if I am meeting up with them although I can meet them anywhere. A bar for me (in Thailand) is likely to be visited to look at women, to have drinks, to hope the music is suitable. If Scooters had the women and drink with decent background music then being on my own would still see me happy to visit, same really as in the other Scooters branches where the women are a great pull, drinks are reasonably priced and the music is very suitable. Meeting mates is usually done around the lake when on bikes or in a pub style setting where we might eat as well. Happy to go Le Pub or Rockhouse when meeting mates but as a single guy who doesn't get out much a bar with decent eye candy and drinks would be a very positive incentive to visit.

  3. Yes. I have told patrons in my bar that they won’t be served any more alcohol. Everyone complained and said they were never coming back, everyone came back, usually the next day and apologised.

  4. Music won't attract me , it might turn me away though if it's really bad or too loud , otherwise I'm fairly ambivalent about it thing with mates first in a place like Thailand is someone in the group will have to compromise to keep the group together, I did it lots on my early trips ... my last time in Thailand , with friends from home , a couple of years ago would see us going our separate ways after a meal and a couple of drinks - one friend likes beers bars , another likes the hands on GoGos and the last one hates those but enjoys the more upscale GoGos .. I'm probably the easiest to please but just find it easier on my own , I can drink at my own pace and go wherever I wish , it's nice to meet up with guys for a chat now and then , but in Patts that's not my priority

  5. I think it’s a bit tough if someone has paid into the system say for 30 years to be then refused treatment is shocking up against someone whose just landed and gets the full monty and not paid in a penny.

  7. Feel very sorry him, but listened to one of his vlogs where he put forward specious reasoning as to why he had to seek treatment in Thailand and could not go to the UK. Even his supporters in the comments section whilst wishing him all the best, where politely telling him he was wrong. That said hope he pulls through

  8. I would always openly support anything that Secrets did even if i did'nt agree with it, i could'nt be an active member of the forum and then criticise in public what was being done to hopefully further the business, what i did privately was an entirely different matter. Just sayin like

  14. Thought that was a clear hand ball by Alli. If it weren't for the VAR I'd never have seen it, but to then deny a penalty is beyond me.

  15. Obviously not mine but some favourites that I've driven. I used to drive Bentley's the same as this occasionally when I worked for an Arab family. The Porsche is a 959, My Dads Saudi client bought one and my Dad went over to Stuttgart to pick it up on a trailer with delivery mileage. A mate and I took it out around Bayswater in the early 90's, It didn't even have number plates fitted. The Z1 was owned by the same Guy and my Dad used to look after it at home. 🙂

  16. He was a tax payer for twenty odd years ... but obviously not whilst in Thailand ... just posting to show that Kev would have been given treatment if he had gone home immediately, rather than setting up the funding pages

  17. The chap I know , was in Thailand for about 15 years as a meet and greeter in a number of bars in Phuket ( rent a liver ... ) , went when he was around 40;, came back to the UK with Chirrosis and got a liver transplant on the NHS within around six months of being back ... he's doing ok and still in the UK three years later

  19. The afternoon shift with the super 6 was the best in town for sure me thinks!

  20. Exactly.... Ben gets some shit....some deserved..... some not....but when Secrets was in its heyday …. as you say.. the all round package was one of the best in town.... the promotion of the girls..and arguably they had one of the best lineups in town.... afternoon and night shift.... that is what brought the punters in. cheers

  23. The girls being promoted on the forum was the catalyst to bringing guys to Secrets. No doubt about it. The all around package that Secrets had was awesome me thinks! Ben was and still is a very smart business guy.

  24. Agree.... the main attraction of a bar in Patts is the girls and cold beers/drinks..... that is what gets the punters in. Mates and if they are true mates.... you can meet anywhere and have a good time.... that's what mates do... meet up...dribble shit..and enjoy each others company … wherever you decide to meet. cheers

  29. His prostate massages in the toilet were not to be matched. I think that's why so many used it to take a dump. Of course they usually bought a beer or two on the way out, and a lady drink for the master of the finger. 😂

  30. Yes remember seeing that I'm sure was also said when he first got ill and set up the funding page that he couldn't get treatment in the UK because he had been out of the country too long ... I didn't think that was true as I had seen another return from Thailand and get the treatment they required

  35. Agree that Larry was the face and had a big input to make it work... but to say that he was the one who made it ALL work is going a bit far..... as when Egg was there he also had a big input..... and also Ben.....Jambo...… the staff.... all their input combined made the place what it was. When it was in its heyday.. the main thing that dragged the punters in was the girls ….. at one stage they had one of the best line ups in town..... and as pretty as Larry is..... the girls were the attraction for the punters and the place was promoted as such...… and the afternoon shift was near on a par with the night shift. No disrespect to Larry... he was a big part of the venue.... but not the be all end all of the venue. Shame it has closed.....but people move on to other things in their life's journey.... and this was the case here. Cherish the memories. cheers

  42. Yes, as much as the NHS should not be used by anyone who is not ordinarily resident in the UK (i.e OPD or elective surgery etc without insurance) it does offer the ability to use it's services for UK nationals who are in need of emergency treatment. Many people no longer have a doctor in the UK and can not prove their ability to avail of free NHS medical care. However if returning to the UK for emergency medical treatment you will be dealt with. I also think somebody said he should have returned to the UK a long time back when he first had this issue, time is essential when dealing with his medical condition.

  43. Cosworth's were a great investment for the canny minded. My 3 year old Suzukl RG500 cost me £3500 in 1989,mint ones go for over £20k now. I sold mine for £500 with a blown engine and crash damage 5 years later 😄

  45. Yep.... Seems the best bars I've been loyal to (over long long years) find the right mix and stick with it. Maybe some tweaking now and then, but stick with the basic scheme. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" Of course the owner and staff are the main draws for me (over the long run at least). I can go to a million different bars, but the return to the same almost always comes down to good people who are there and dedicated.

  46. - continue - Day #3. Khon Kaen Just as I was finishing up my shower, got a text message from the girl on the first night asking me to stop at the mall and have a drink at her place of work/coffee shop . I text back ok. I left the Kosa and got on my motor bike rental and headed to Central Mall. Roads were fairly busy and once I began approaching the mall, it was quite busy. I forgot today was Saturday....funny how when you’re out and about in another country how you tend to forget the days of the week. Found a spot close to all the food tents outside as someone else was just leaving. Found out from my girl who works daytime at the mall that these food tents out in front, show up from time to time and usually last 10-14 days at a time. Btw, the food tents here are falong friendly, lol. Many of them are not simple Issan thai food stalls, but actually tasty yummy eats, many geared towards falong type eats. Made my way up to the fourth floor and met up with my girl. I ordered a watermelon and japanese pear/apple drink. Both were great, but that Japanese pear drink was one of the best drinks ever!!! Sat down and chitchatted with my girl for over an hour and agreed to meet up with her at Eric’s bar late in the evening. I stood up to head outta the mall and my girl was headed to go grab some food. I had some money folded-up and put it in her hand.....she looked at it and kept only #100 baht and handed the rest back to me, stating her food only cost #100 baht, giving me a smile. I made my way back to Kosa, but chose to stop a bit short at my motorbike rental place. Decided it was best to return the motorbike now, so wouldn’t have to mess with it in the morning the next day. Quickly returned the bike and began walking towards the Kosa Hotel. As I was walking back, came across a homeless guy wearing no shoes, very dirty and damaged feet. He was selling handmade grasshopper and goldfish on a stick. He said #50 baht. I pointed to all 3 and handed him #200 baht. These will make great stocking stuffers for family back home. Now, from time to time, I come across these homeless guys selling these cool hand made items. One time, a guy made these peacocks out of empty thai beer cans, another time I got spinning wind chimes outta thai beer cans and another time I got bamboo straw animal figurines. I always luv buying these cool hand made things from the homeless guys. They are cheap, cool and make really awesome gifts for friends and family back home. My Uncle will get one of them for Christmas. He had been a civil engineer with the US Army over 50 years ago, when he help build the many bridges and roads in Thailand. There’s been a few times during family get togethers, when my uncle has had one too many, he’ll sit and chat with me off in the corner and he’ll tell me how much he enjoyed his time in Thailand many many years ago. He told me in the past, he met a couple of different Thai gals back in those days and could have easily stayed and married one of them. We’ll sit off in the corner and I’ll fill him in on my recent Thai holiday escapades and I can see how interested and excited he gets hearing about my travels in Thailand. He is pretty much the only family person back home I ever discuss what I do in Thailand. Once back in the room, I shower and take a quick nap.... Sent from my iPhone

  49. Yeah I would say so. Still love it now mate. Can't beat the feeling you get when the sun sets in Pattaya. Sipping a beer in the heat, surrounded by beautiful women, watching some ladyboy nick an unsuspecting Arabs wallet. Enjoying some Penang Gai and Rice for less than a fiver. Tearing up the occasional dancefloor. Getting sucked off in a bar whilst sipping a beer. Can't beat it.
