  2. The weather was great here this week, so I started prepping yesterday to grill today. I use the extruded coconut briquets (pillow type) which burn a ridiculously long time, so when I fire up the grill I do enough for several days for us. Today's mix was hot dogs, bratwurst, parmesan/paprika potato wedges, and marinated pork loin.

  6. I would'nt touch the Sinovac vaccine with a barge pole irrespective of the cost. My plan is to get the Astrazeneca as soon as it is available in Thailand and i'll just pay.

  7. Absolutely, around 10 years ago I had to take my mum,who is 91 now,to A & E with a broken wrist. The doc asked her how she did it.I was pulling a tree up & slipped she said. "YOU were pulling a tree up?" said the doc increduously.

  10. more hoops to jump around... COVID-19 TEST WILL BE MANDATORY FOR ALL VISA EXTENSIONS https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/2021/01/19/covid-19-test-result-will-be-mandatory-for-all-visa-extensions/ BANGKOK — A test for COVID-19 will soon be required for every foreigner who wishes to extend their stay in the kingdom, the immigration police said Monday. Bureau spokesman Archayon Kraithong said the new measure will make it mandatory for foreigners to obtain a proof of negative coronavirus test before visiting the immigration to extend their visa. He said the stringent rule will apply to every type of visa, regardless of how long the foreigner has stayed in the country. “It will become effective after Jan. 24,” Maj. Gen. Archayon said by phone. “This is in accordance with the new ministerial regulation and will apply to all types of visa.”... ...The new rule will likely place further financial burden on expats residing in Thailand. A coronavirus test at the government-run Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute costs about 3,000 baht, but the price can go to 6,000 baht and even 8,000 baht at some hospitals...

  11. Whipped up an easy spinach/greens salad and semi homemade sauce. Lately what I will do is get a jar of decent sauce. Then I buy a thing of ground pork, chop up a ton of fresh garlic and onion. Cook that and then add it to the sauce. Let it simmer for a few, and while waiting for that prep the salad and cook the pasta. Twenty minutes later ---- wha la a pretty good tasting, healthy little meal.

  13. Reading some articles that the Israelis are saying that the majority of those who have had the Pfizer vaccine are not passing on the virus. It appears that the vaccine dosage creates such a high immunity that even if infected with the virus it can not hang around long enough to infect any others due to the immune system working to completely suppress the virus. The vaccine dosage also increases the immune system 100s of times more than the immune system alone.

  16. Well I have just done my third PCR test in ten days. One in Dubai before flying to Kuwait. One at Kuwait airport upon arrival. One today at a government hospital. Both tests in Kuwait are free of charge, the one in Dubai cost me $32 Only now are the UK implementing the requirement of negative PCR test before travel to the UK. No wonder the UK now has the worlds highest daily death rate.

  20. I’m agreeing with you re transmission. I just think that some countries will have something to say about travellers coming to holiday in their countries if they aren’t on top of their own vaccine programmes. Also think there is a good chance they will ask for negative tests before travel. Given we are doing way better that most in vaccine rollout some countries may not be on top of their vaccine programmes before the summer.

  23. EU is considering 'vaccine passports' under pressure from countries like Portugal and Greece that depend on tourism. I think it's a good idea. Absolutely no reason why someone who has been vaccinated should be prohibited from travelling.

  24. If I don't get it under the government scheme, which I think I should as I pay social security, and if my company doesn't provide the vaccine to us expats as a common courtesy, I'll buy it myself after the effectiveness has been properly substantiated.

  25. Reports that one hospital group has ordered many doses of vaccine for its own use on staff, and also for sale, but it's the Sinovac version. Charging 3,200 Baht for something that costs $5, sigh. Better to wait until the AstraZeneca vaccine is available. You might be able to get the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, but I wouldn't trust the Thais to have stored them properly.

  36. Same here, although at least I have casually searched recipes in the last year. Just seems like a lot of work and expense compared to buying a frozen one.....I believe a 5 pound tray here is 250 baht or so, stick it in the oven for 90 minutes and done. But I must make one someday soon, as well as a holiday turkey......somehow I feel the lasagna will come first
