  1. Often wonder how Code is doing. Quite a character, over the years attempts to meet up never panned out. Certainly did spice things up a bit. I've never gotten the low down on why he left. I am guessing it was for good reason as he could often get a little cantankerous from time to time. But, I sure did enjoy some of his posts as he did contribute a great deal. Just sometimes got a little to big for his britches I reckon. Speaking of Spicing things up... Ol Thai Spice... Another classic poster who ocassionally would get under some folks skin (including mine), but all the same enjoyed his contributions.

  5. Find these ' who are the greatest' threads /polls somewhat subjective. It's all down to what you like. What makes you great?. Is it sales?, amount of number one's? Etc. People buy/listen to music in a different way nowadays so sales are meaningless. Album tracks can fill a top 10 when someone like Ed Sheeran etc released a new album. More appropriate perhaps is 'who's your favourite'. Sorry for sounding like a miserable c**t, but some people just rattle off who they think is expected to be named, like Pele as footballer. Never liked The Beatles apart from the odd song. Anyway, back to my favourites,in no particular order. Queensryche, Motorhead and Rush. 👍

  6. If, by some miracle, they do bury the utility lines as well as the electric, they'll be able to completely eliminate the utility poles now clogging the footpath, but then they'll have these access boxes in their place blocking the path. Too bad they couldn't have figured out a way to place these boxes flush with the buildings, then added a bit more width to the footpath and they'd be left with something usable as a footpath. But then again that would only last as long as it took the motorbikes to use the space for parking.

  15. Me neither although we spoke on the phone a couple of times as I recall regarding posts of mutual interest. Code's posts unfortunately all too often gave one the impression that he was somebody that seemed to attract violence like a magnet. Most people, including me, spend a lifetime "generally" successfully trying to avoid conflict. I remember Code making a post on the subject of the use of a pencil as a tactical weapon. I use a pencil to do the crossword in my Daily Record. Thai Spice was a misogynistic drunk and a legend in his own mind.

  17. Before that it was a Belgian beer. For more than a decade the Foster's brand has been passed around the international brewing conglomerates like a Beach Rd hooker was passed around a pre-pandemic tourist group from the sub-continent. Foster's is to beer what an airline meal is to food or an England cricket team is to test cricket.

  30. About 10 or so minutes from Pattaya; at 120 baht taxi ride (Bolt). Never been. before. It is an unusual combination of rock formations and zoo animals. I have taken pictures of the animals; that said whilst I am not a militant ALF supporter, I do believe animals are best kept in a more natural environment rather than in cages. I do appreciate however that some of the animals would not be alive if they were not kept in a zoo. The crocodile show I do not like; it is an abuse of the crocodiles in my view, but I did take photographs, because that is what I do. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but a good two and a half hours of walking through the site. Admission 500 baht.

  34. I saw Ms. Gu a few months ago near the Marina on San Francisco Bay. She was with a couple of guys with cameras. Other than her Red Bull cap she was not easily identifiable. Based on interviews she's incredibly intelligent and photogenic. Olympic skiing gold is just a notch on her young amazing life. I consider her an incredible roll model for my luk krueng daughter. 41. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-60284491 Australia has announced the reopening of its borders to vaccinated tourists and other visa holders for the first time in almost two years. "If you're double vaccinated, we look forward to welcoming you back," Prime Minister Scott Morrison said. The reopening, on 21 February, will be welcome news for many sectors including international education.

  42. Yes....a few hours after posting, I saw an updated YT video stating that insurance was now part of the necessary documentation for entry. But I think for most of us, if not everyone, the elimination of the quarantine is the biggest hurdle that foreigners to no longer have to deal with. And as a result of that, many airlines, as you state, are going to ramp up their flight scheduling to reflect the increased tourist numbers that will soon follow. I sure hope Thailand takes a cue from the PI.

  43. New exchange booth Naklua Road near Dolphin Circus; I am not impressed with the rates. The Sabai Rooms Soapy is fenced off; I do not know what is happening to it. Let sleeping dogs lie in Soi 6. The pumps are back today. No significant damage to the beach after the rain this afternoon. Some isolated pockets of water collecting but nothing too problematic. Not many tour busses around these days.

  44. A pleasant morning ride. They've done a good job turning Soi 15 into a good mtn bike track. Also good to see they've selected the very large version of drain pipes. Allows more room for the collection of sand and other road construction debris.

  45. 2nd road, soi 15. Walking from the gate to the temple, to the Avenue mall... There is currently vehicular access to the urban, and City Garden, via soi casino From the Urban, looking towards 2nd road Thai restaurant on soi casino/soi 15 has cleared out Avenue residence towards 2nd road Avenue residence towards Avenue mall Outside Mercure looking towards 2nd road They have drilled holes, presumably to assist in the breaking up if the concrete, around the corner behind the Avenue mall to Piss Alley. However, everyone seems to be of the opinion that the will be digging up soi 15 all the way upto soi buckhou
