  3. I’d hold your horses for full facts before claims of tax dodging. She has paid tax on uk earnings, it may well be that she has paid tax in other countries like India where it was earned, the full facts need to be established. It’s currently all a bit clickbaity and being used as a political tool. As for Sunak himself, people are quick to forget that he pushed for and approved the biggest ever peacetime intervention in the jobs market in the form of the furlough scheme. So he can be forgiven for keeping an eye on the public purse strings unlike the magic money tree Labour seem to think they would have if they got into power.

  4. Do you remember the photo that was taken some time ago showing the new footpath extension being built running along the side of the bars in New Plaza? Some bright spark said that it wouldn't take long before the tables and chairs were moved onto it ......... I'm surprised they didn't sink into the wet concrete they moved across so fast!!

  5. Probably doing it on the cheap just to provide a concrete footpath for the customers. At least there are no overhead lines that they'll need to come back in a few months to rip up the new concrete to bury the lines.

  6. Motorcycle road racing, specifically the Isle of Man TT. One second of loss of concentration and your dead. Anyone that can ride a 226 mile race of public road's at an average speed of over 130 mph is pretty special.

  12. She paid £30,000 a year for non-dom status to save paying £20m in U.K. tax ... the non-dom status is dodgy because it suggests that the U.K. isn't her permanent home ... that doesn't square her husband being Chancellor as well as his ambition to be PM ... magic money tree 5555 where do you think Sunak got the money from to assist during Covid , he borrowed it .... as for keeping an eye on the public purse , they have spaffed away billions in dodgy PPE deals with their mates and billions written off in fraudulent claims with companies like his wife's ...

  15. From purely a personal participation point of view for me it was squash. When I was in my mid twenty's squash became very fashionable with the gin & tonic, middle class super achievers I had aspirations of joining now that I had a company car .................. albeit a Morris Marina. I thought given the fact that I considered myself fit from playing footy a poofy game like squash should be a doddle. So I joined my Manager's squash club and went on their "ladder". I soon discovered: 1. Any reasonable squash player had me running around like a blue assed fly with them never seeming to leave the center of the court. 2. Squash was not a game you played to "get fit." You had to be really fit already or you got destroyed. 3. When a squash ball hits you in the middle of your back it REALLY hurts and brings up a black & blue war wound. 4. When your opponent's racquet, winding up for a forehand smash, connects with your left eyebrow it was useful to have Barnet General Hospital only 5 minutes away for the subsequent stitches. I never liked gin & tonic anyway.

  21. Things are constantly changing, and will change again by the time you go, i'm also going end of May. The thread below is best to keep an eye on and all the 'latest requirements' get posted in there, specifically the last few pages ongoing, as things will have changed since it was first started. . My guess for when you go, and it is only a guess, is you'll still need to do the Thai Pass, but it will be an ATK/LFT on arrival at the airport in Bangkok, or if you choose to do at a hotel for example. Just keep checking the thread below, i'm holding off on booking a test and go hotel and doing the Thai Pass until there is clarity on what will be required from May, hopefully no hotel test and go PCR requirement.

  23. It's awesome and only a fiver iirc. Remember to ask everywhere as some places will accept it without advertising it or telling you they're listed. Our local Mcdonalds was giving away free ice creams and Mcflurries during covid, then free cheeseburgers. Mrs got a discount at Holland and Barrett yesterday, plus 10% off Sketchers in Covent Garden. Better value than Beach road during low season!

  29. …usually have my meals at Le Pub @ lunch time. Running behind all day yesterday, so mixed it up and had a late dinner there. As usual, 2 pkates 1. pork fried rice. Excellent! 2. Chili - very very very tasty!!! …would have liked a bit of shredded cheddar or jack cheese on top along with finely minced onion and possibly a dolup of sour cream, but regardless both were great!!!

  34. It's a ridiculous list, clearly compiled with the television viewing preferences of Joe Sixpack from Norman, Oklahoma, in mind. The "methodology" used is absurd. If you want to see the how ESPN decided which sports were hardest, take a look at this LINK. The standards used to rank the sports are weighted heavily in favor of sports that require physical power and endurance, which happen to be the sports Joe Sixpack enjoys watching the most. Just about any human activity can be made into a competitive activity. Whether that activity deserves to be called a sport, however, is very much a matter of opinion. You have to distinguish between individual athletic performance and team sports as well as sports that depend on motor vehicles, boats, planes, horses, etc. And how about a sport like sumo wrestling? Is it more difficult to become a sumo wrestler than a Western boxer or wrestler? Is muay thai harder or easier that Western boxing? It's virtually impossible to arrive at standards which take into account all the factors involved in one activity versus another. But I guess it does provoke discussion, which was probably its goal. Some very difficult sports didn't make the list. Would anyone in his right mind argue that bowling or badminton are more difficult than jai alai? Or that volleyball is harder than sepak takraw?

  42. Are you proud of your ignorance or just don't know how stupid you appear? The data on which the "what makes an anti-vaxxer" study is based comes from a "whole of life" (from birth to 45 years old at this stage) medical, health and lifestyle study. So far nearly 1000 reports have been produced from the data. The anti-vaxxer report is but one. Each year the ATO sends me a letter detailing where my tax dollars are being spent. And the single biggest line item is health! 16% last year. Now a smart person would see that if the the spending on public health was reduced then more could be spent on the elderly or veterans. The two groups you profess to have concern for. If I had my way I'd charge any unvaccinated person presenting with a vaccine preventable disease the full cost of their treatment.
