That would be funnier if I wasn't living in Melbourne and in the first day of our, hopefully, seven day lockdown.

Screw Ohio...in California we go BIG... $$$

California's vaccine jackpot: $116.5 million in prizes for those who get shots

https://www.sfchronicle.com/news/article/California-s-vaccine-jackpot-116-5-million-in-16208445.php

California will offer cash prizes totaling $116.5 million to residents who get coronavirus vaccinations, becoming the latest state to dangle financial incentives to boost the number of people receiving shots.

The incentives that Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Thursday are the largest in the country, state officials said. Other states have offered various lures to get their residents vaccinated, ranging from a $1 million lottery prize in Ohio to a “shot and a beer” in New Jersey and a week’s worth of free subway rides in New York.

California’s program is a combination of lottery and automatic prizes. The money will initially come out of the state’s general fund but will later be backfilled by federal funding from the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill that Congress passed this year.

For those who are already vaccinated, 10 people will split $15 million, for $1.5 million apiece. These winners will be selected June 15, the day the state is slated to fully reopen. Californians who are 12 and older who have gotten at least one shot are eligible. Those who have already gotten at least one shot have already been automatically entered. The state gets the names from the California immunization registry.

A man described as “fit and healthy” by his family has died just days after receiving a coronavirus vaccination.

The 55-year-old man, from Tamworth in NSW, died on April 21 as a result of blood clots in his lungs, the Northern Daily Leader reported.

'Fit and healthy' man dies of blood clot days after Covid vaccine (yahoo.com)

Internet a bit slow out there in the boonies? Story dated 28 April 2021

As of 2 days ago there have been 27 confirmed cases of blood clots caused by linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine with another 6 probable cases. There have also been additional deaths.

This is why government ministers, most of whom received the Pfizer vaccine, are pushing AstraZeneca for the over 50yo. Just more of the flustercluck that is the Australian vaccine rollout (a Federal government enterprise).

Again you miss the point entirely.

I get back from the Dominican Republic on June 10th. Since you guys will be up at Tahoe all week, maybe I could make a drive up midweek, grab a room at a motel near Stateline, and meet you for a few beers.

Shouldn't be a problem finding a place to stay on a Tuesday or Wednesday night and traffic up and back Highway 50 won't be a problem.

I haven't been up in Lake Tahoe for at least 5-6 years, but having a chance at meeting a true legend of the board would be a perfect excuse to drive up! 😄

How about a DR trip report? Just the Readers Digest version would suffice. The place has been on my radar since the Cuba Dave days. I see they are seeing a surge of infections, but if you're double vacc'd I think you're good to go.

Melbourne lockdown extended as authorities track bizarre transmission

Victoria’s chief health officer has revealed a bizarre case that became infected in a way not seen before, calling the variant an “absolute beast”.

Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton says people are becoming infected with Covid-19
in ways we have not seen before.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday where it was announced the state’s seven-day
lockdown would continue for another week, Professor Sutton said a person was infected at
an indoor enclosed space “two hours after an infectious case had left”
.

“(It) was therefore a substantial period of time but they had left two hours before the next
exposed individual came in who has become a case,” he said.

That’s in the kind of measles category of infectiousness. Probably relates to an
unventilated setting where someone spent a great deal of time but to come in two hours later
and be infected. It may be on surfaces but it could absolutely be through airborne
transmission as well because of that indoor setting.”

Professor Sutton said there was another case where the virus had showed up “in places
where normally it would (not?) be likely”.

“So the Brighton Beach Hotel, that was an outdoor dining setting, well ventilated, you
wouldn’t expect transmission to occur,” he said.

“We still had it as an exposure site, we still informed people to test and isolate until
returning a negative, but in fact all of those people will need to be in quarantine because
transmission has occurred there.

“That’s not something that we routinely see and we didn’t routinely see it in 2020, but we
have to bear in mind that all the variants of concern now are really a step up to some degree.

“This variant is not the most infectious, but it is more infectious than anything we saw in
the beginning and middle of 2020, so we have to bear that in mind.”

He said at least one in 10 current cases in the 60-case cluster “caught this virus in those
casual contact settings” outside the workplace or the family home.

Yesterday, Victorian authorities say people are becoming infected with covid after just
“brushing past” strangers with the virus.

Testing Commander Jeroen Weimar said at least four of the state’s 54 locally transmitted
cases have come from “fleeting” contact between Victorians.

“What we’re seeing now is people are brushing past each other in a small shop, they are
going to a display home, they are looking at photos in a Telstra shop,” he said.

“This is relatively speaking, relatively fleeting. They do not know each other’s names, and
that is very different from what we have been before.

“This is stranger to stranger transmission.”

He said the ease with which the virus is spreading may be a feature of the Indian variant.

“We are used with previous variants, we are more used to transmission occurring in the
home, in the workplace, where people know each other already, not all of those big social
settings,” he said.

“We have seen transmission in these places with very fleeting contact. We have
transmission in places like the Telstra store in South Melbourne, JMD Grocers, the display
home we talked about a few days ago, I’d add Craigieburn Central shopping centre.

“They are all examples of transmission with very limited contact. With previous variants,
we are more used to transmission occurring in the home, in the workplace, where people
know each other already, not at all of those big social settings. These are quite different.”

Last weekend I saw that one of my local pharmacies were giving the first dose from 11-7 pm every day, no appointment needed. So even though it got very busy, I showed up at 10:55 and got the 3rd spot, out of there by 11:45. They gave me the Pfizer vaccine, hardly felt the needle, must be that nice layer of fat I’ve got.
Happy it’s done,  but no doubt there are side effects......already feel aches around both armpits and I’m quite tired.

Another overkill by a power crazy inept State Govt.... it seems out of the few cases they based their claims on to lockdown and even extend it... a couple did not have the virus.

Time the ineptness of these people are called out

cheers

Just watched it was a real eye opener, as someone who is new to the anti vax conspirators. You'd previously called them scum, which having now having the background is under-selling them.

They are predatory, money-making opportunists. Don't vaccinate your child, just buy this bleach based treatment that I'm going to sell you.

Really scary. COVID has just been a money making opportunity for these predatory scum.

Still haven't watched it, too busy travelling in cosmopolitan UK.

But yea, Covid has been a boom industry for these modern day con men, as every window licking conspiracy nutjob has been wanking furiously all through it, can't get enough of Covid, as to them it validates whatever big conspiracy they decided to buy into, to escape from their own pitiful reality.

Said it before, but these anti vacc scum have the blood of many innocent kids on their hands, kids that had no choice, gullible parents sucked in by these charlatans and snake oil sales men. Icke and Alex Jones are minted from fleecing the simple minded.

Well you certainly advocate that Australia import as many variants as possible then turn them loose into the community!

https://nursingnotes.co.uk/news/professional/anti-vax-nurse-struck-off-for-claiming-the-pandemic-is-a-hoax/

She developed a cult-like following over the past year due to her controversial views.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has made the decision to permanently remove a conspiracy theorist and anti-vaxxer Kate Shemirani from their register.

A registered nurse, non-medical prescriber and aesthetic practitioner at the time, Ms Shemirani developed a cult-like following over the past year due to her controversial views on vaccinations and lockdown.

She dubbed the current world health crisis a “scamdemic plandemic” in numerous YouTube videos before she was banned from the platform.

Ms Shemirani was originally suspended by the NMC in July 2020 in response to complaints that she was spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and about vaccines. During this hearing, which was uploaded to the internet, Ms Shermirani and her representative made several claims about the pandemic, 5G and Bill gates.

Following a subsequent hearing in May it was decided that Ms Shemirani would no longer be allowed to practice.
