Aqualung Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I feel rather uncomfy starting a thread about our Queen but considering today's news coverage and some of the comments made I thought I would try. I for one will be gutted if we lose her. 3 3
galenkia Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Been an amazing servant to the country. One of the few Royals who lived their lives without being engulfed in scandal. Be a sad day for the country. 7
Popular Post Stillearly Posted September 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2022 she's 96 , has had a great life but is nearing the end ... I'm finding the protracted news coverage distasteful , leave her pass on in peace , then report it ... six hours ( so far ) of speculation and waffle is disrespectful imho 6 1 2
Freee!! Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I admire her sense of duty but I hope Charles will be a bit more pragmatic and abdicate when it is time.

Don't think he will myself. Been spending his whole life waiting to be King, it's his role from birth. William seems like he'd be a good King when his time comes. 1 2

Popular Post KhunDon Posted September 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2022 Watching the news as it was announced, such sad news. She said this when she was 21 years old “I declare before you all, that my whole life wether, it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service”. She certainly kept that pledge. She gave her entire life in service to the British people and all those in the Commonwealth and was highly admired by pretty much all leaders of other countries and will be sadly missed by most people. R.I.P. It remains to be seen how her son handles being the next king. 11 3
Popular Post maipenrai Posted September 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2022 An amazing woman whose service to her country will never be equalled, RIP Queen Elizabeth II: 11 1
Golfingboy Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Tributes have been pouring in all across the Canadian/US networks, one minute they were discussing will Harry get there on time, the next they just said “it’s confirmed”. I know she was 96, but still shocking for her to leave us so fast. They showed a speech she made in the company of Pierre Trudeau from who knows when (1980’s ?), had no idea she could speak French like that. Definitely a talented and beloved monarch RIP HRH 3
Popular Post Horizondave Posted September 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2022 Like many here, I am saddened by the loss of the Queen, my Queen. I actually shed a tear. I had difficulty in holding back and gave my daughter a cuddle, she understood my loss and was, herself, very upset. Even went to pick up my wife from work when normally she would come home by bus, just needed to drive and be with family. Across the park from where I live there was a funfair but very soon, it fell quiet and the lights were turned off, obviously the event was closed. Difficult to be in a good mood as I reflect on what has happened, a drink is what I will raise to the Queen tonight. RIP, you have served so well, you will be missed so much. 9 1
