  1. An hour to go here until NY.We are the last to get hit.😁 We got mandatory shut down at 8pm tonight,so I’ve eaten a pot cookie and am drinking a beer in bed. Will not make it,and am not that worried. Missus has commandeered my Christmas gift from her, which was a foam iPad holder. She is watching Korean soap operas next to me. It’s a far cry from my first NY in Pattaya ,where they were shooting Roman candles through the bar at the Sugar Shack, and some c**t rolled a big bomb into the place that made me deaf for a day. I remember being helped across the street to my hotel by my BF from Honey agogo at around 3am........she stayed for a week BTW. lovely girl that. Am i content?I doubt I ever will be...moving forward is an instinct I’m burdened with. I would say I’m lucky.Lucky that my gut choices turned out ok,and that I’ve managed to stay alive since that first night 24 years ago. I've a warm bed and a family who loves me for the bloke I am,regardless of my many faults. I feel like the richest bloke in the world...mind you,the cookie has kicked in,and I tend to get all huggy bear after it does. Happy New year to all you blokes.

  2. Per boydeste's suggestion that this belongs here: Great weather today, so an early New Year's dinner out on the Patio. Roast pork tenderloin, Bavarian sauerkraut, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy.

  3. Happy new year all. Head is banging but happy to have spent last night with close friends here in Pattaya. Still contemplating a dry January but that may just be the hangover talking.

  4. Happy new year to all. Sat at home with Stilton cheese, biscuits & a bottle of Bushmill,s 10 yr old single malt. That should do the job.

  8. Good on them. After the year that everyone as had people deserve to let their hair down. As much as that might upset the snowflake sofa screamers.

  10. A New Years update of the shrinking Pattaya reservoirs. First up is Huai Chak Nok Reservoir. As you can see in the pic below the current water level is down by about 1m from the same time one year ago. For @thegrogmonster, time to mow the jungle on your land. Took a hard fall off my bike at this spot. It's a section of road I've ridden on many times in the past, and one that most of the year has a stream of water crossing the road. What I didn't account for was the algae build up. So when I crossed at about 20kph it was liking hitting a stretch of ice and down I went. Fortunately only a bit of road rash, a bruised hip and slight wrist sprain. More importantly, no damage to the bike. 🙂

  12. I'm working the night shift. My office is relatively close to the city centre, the place is a deserted, a ghost town. But anyway, good riddance to 2020, it can only get better.

  14. Thais usually eat larb moo as a cold salad, when I make it I have it straight from the Wok with roast pots or chips, an explosion of flavours.

  24. Just seeing on the news, that the UK government are rolling back their plans for giving the second dose of the vaccine, so that more people can get their first dose sooner, rather than wait, until all who’d had the first dose have received their second dose. Apparently it’s not absolutely necessary to have the second jab at the 21 day mark, but it’s OK to wait up to 6 weeks or more for it. The longer the wait between jabs, the better the body builds its own immune response. 🤔 I have no medical expertise, I’m just repeating what I heard, so please don’t shoot the messenger. 👌

  25. Really wishing I hadn't introduced the village to mulled wine some time ago. It's cold up here (relatively 😏) and there has been a steady stream of visitors over the last hour asking about "lon falang wine". I brought a load of sachets of the mulled spices over with me and scored a cheap (again relatively) box of red. That went a few nights ago and I am f***d if I am going to open a 1200 baht bottle to waste on anyone other than me and the Mrs 😬.

  26. Mabprachan Reservoir is looking in slightly better shape compared to this time last year. I guessing, but the reason for this might be Pattaya's water supply is now coming from the new water pipes that connect to water sources to the north. Looks like they're building a new park on Mabprachan. It pissed me off when I came around the bend and saw this. There was plenty of space for them to park on the other side of the trees. But noooo, they had to park in the shade on the bike path. Saw a Thai couple were sitting in the back of the pickup so they got an earful from me as I rode past.

  28. 2020 has been rough for many of us. Let's hope that there is a light in the tunnel during 2021. Wishing everyone a happy New Year with perhaps a path back to Thailand for those who are not already there and that Thailand remains low risk. I wish those in business, the best and that they are able to survive during these difficult times. Stay positive Stay safe y'all

  37. Yes, very bizarre. Thailand should start a new ad campaign to advertise their country with the modified slogan, Amazing Thailand - SNAFU.
