  4. Excellent morning so far! (It is now 11am.) - As usual I was up early, but this morning I awoke to see @Butch in bed with me !!! - So I went for a haircut at 8am in case he decided to call a Muster Parade! Tooooo many people called me Handsome Man this morning!! - I bought the 6 Million Baht winning lottery ticket at the Wat as well!! - I started preparing lunch when the Veggie truck drove passed.. A bag of 15 Man Thet for 20 Baht (That makes them exactly 1 baht each!) and she cut open a fresh pumpkin for me so I start the day with a virgin 30 baht fuk! I am going to be so upset when I move away from here .... and (Oh The Horror!) be a farang.... Thinking about it, in 28 years here only 2 years were spent in Bangkok .. the rest "in the village"...which includes Pattaya of course..

  5. I'm struggling to visualise where those pics / bars are @fforest . My observations from April are that the beer bars in Treetown, Bukhao, Chaiyapoon and LKM have a fair few girls in them, but they don't seem to be attracting many guys in. For example Area 52 in Treetown was busy most nights, but Basilisk at the end on the corner was dead, despite having a few decent lookers in there. Same goes for some of the bars along that strip. LKM was slightly hit and miss, and the GoGo quality seems to have dwindled a bit with the exception of Crystal and the other one opposite what was Pulse. Sugar Sugar was dire, but it has good A/C. Bar with the best atmosphere was Trench Town, the reggae bar. Had a few good nights in there, very good band as well. Hopefully not too far o/t, I walked past the old Penthouse hotel on my way to Classroom. Sad state of affairs. And another example of this almost dead Soi...It used to be Planet Rock, and prior to that, Jupiter A GoGo with Venus on the left for a short while. I was very good friends with the owner, I'd love the chance to go in and have a look around. This was on Pattayaland 1, anyone remember or ever visited it?.

  6. I hung back at my mates house to watch the Watford match then went & checked into our hotel near the party venue. The missus went early straight to the party to help disorganse things....when I got there she was bladdered😂....the hosts have a nice bar in their back garden & had hired a proper barman to tend it.He was mixing cocktails & by the time I got there(3.30pm) the missus was on her seventh....she usually drinks very little. Anyway eventually she crashed & when she awoke a few hours later was fine.

  7. Came home from the gym and the missus had made some lasagne. I was a bit worried when I seen she lined the baking tray with tinfoil to 'stop it making a mess of the tray 🤷‍♂️' But it came out of tray okay, I thought the tinfoil would have stuck to it. I love proper homemade lasagne, as fattening as it is, so had to make a salad to go with it, so didn't feel as bad eating it 😂 Ying and Yang 😁

  8. Had a 9 day jaunt around Europe stopping in Krakow in Poland and Berchtesgaden in Germany. One of the many places I visited was here, Auschwitz-Birkenau, probably the sight of the largest mass killing of human beings ever undertaken. A sad place to visit. #NeverForget.

  9. In business you have to try and give the customer what they want looking at these bars there are 46 i believe and one is no different than the others so it seems. remember Siren Beer bars in front or the beer garden ? Well they had 15 to 20 bars. They really were cookie cutter bars not much different from one another. The inside bars were never very busy and they have now replaced the 15 or 20 with 4. The location is IMO far better than the new ones they are building here. So what will the bars here offer customers to keep them full of customers ? I think we all agree that girls are #1 needed and with 46 bars say they have 7 girls a bar thats over 320 girls and will 7 per bar even be enough? Many girls will give this new venue a chance but soon looking for busier places i would bet Best of luck to these bar owners for taking a chance but i would bet that there will be some closing within 6 months

  12. Oxygen Pattaya is a large, beachfront restaurant located up and over the Pratamnak hill , not a million miles away from Cozy Beach and 3 Mermaids. https://goo.gl/maps/N6dmd8cxRsGKW36C7 It offers great sunset views, reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere with plenty of space for you to get that perfect shot. The customers are mostly Asian, quite a few Thais and quite a few Chinese occupying the larger tables, but getting a table is very easy. We managed to get a beachfront table for 2 without booking, but changed the table as it sat quite high compared to the chairs!. food is mostly seafood. We opted for the Seafood platter and 6 oysters. I also had a coconut and a Hoegaarden. Oysters were delicious, nice and sweet, chilled and well presented. coconut was actually a "slushie", non alcoholic and really really good. Service wasn't the greatest, it did lack at times, the seafood platter arrived quite quickly and the oysters afterwards. Bolt Taxi was THB 140 each way, total price for food and 4 drinks was just over 3400 THB. Although it was a slightly expensive outing in comparison, it is a really nice place to try out. It is a bit of a hike to the actual beachfront area from where you get dropped off though. however, don't let that put you off, it is worth it for the sunset views. All photo's are my own, taken by me. Google map link courtesy of google.

  14. Just changed my hotel booking in Bangkok for 26 September, my last night. I was booked at Night Hotel on Soi 15, but I kept thinking about the need to leave early, around 4.30am to get to the airport for my 7.15 am departure on Finnair. I have now booked the Novotel Suvarnabhumi airport at a cost of about £40 more. Now, there is method in my madness. I was going to get a taxi from Hua Hin to the Night Hotel on the 25th at a cost of about 2000 baht (didn't want to go via the airport). I would then need to pay about 500 baht for a taxi to the airport at around 4.30 am. Ok, the hotel plus taxis would make the trip about £110 compared with a discounted deal at the Novotel airport for £97. I will now take the bus from Hua Hin to the airport and the train into Bangkok in the early evening before returning to the airport hotel. That will add on about £15 so not too different in cost of either stay, but having the hotel right at the airport for a 7.15 departure (5.30am check in) is probably the deal breaker. I like the idea of waking up and just walking to the check in area; taking a taxi early at 4.30 am from Sukhumvit isn't really what I want to do, it is always a little stressful for me as getting the taxi on time and the travel to the airport in the early hours isn't really rocking my boat. Maybe a lot of fuss about not much but I like the Novotel at the airport, very convenient.

  15. Moving on to Soi 10, the Eastiny and Sawasdee are still both abandoned, as for the other Hotels, there's not much life in any of them apart from the one down the road on the left... From the roof of the Page 10 it's possible to see the Pools that the Eastiny had, visible in the last pic above the glassed area. It's pretty disgusting, black water with a fair amount of crud growing in it. No idea what's going to happen to the Eastiny building, it was like that in Sept 22 as well.

  17. of all the cars I had, the best and scariest was the 928. originally designed to replace the 911, but didnt, it was like having two engines running on the same crankshaft. quite simpe the acceleration was amazing and, luckily, so was the first class braking system and 1 to 1 steering. my thrill was to have a vw gti wanker behind me as approaching the end of a speed zone, they would always be trying to nip by, but then as I left the zone, flooring the thing and leaving them behind. braking wa samazing it was like a fair ride. no wobble, just perfect and ultra even stopping. I sold it ( twice as one chap sold it back to me) and was best rid of it as otherwise I would probably have killed meself, or ost my licence. I previously belonged to THE Phil Collins, reg was irish, NXI 928 in flame red

  18. Tbh Coxy.... A bit of a smash and grab win for us. We were under the cosh at times and JDT set us up perfectly in a defensive point of view. I thought our goal was a wonderful bit of skill but helped by your keeper. Once your attackers start hitting the target your lot will be fine. Can't see you being out of the top 6 come seasons end. As for us... We just need new owners who will spend a bit of brass. We have great young talent and a brilliant manager who's been lied to by the owners... Sold a pup so to speak... And a CEO who's a compulsive liar and continues to fleece loyal fans in the expectancy of regaining the 10,000 lost season ticket holders we once had. Wish Jack Walker was still with us.... Waggot wouldn't be fit to sell hotdogs on the concourse.

  25. Google Earth has layers which you can switch on or off. LHR December 1945. LHR December 1945 with the Photorealistic layer enabled Now I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure that they didn't have 4 engine swept wing jetliners in 1945.

  26. I always thought butter was evil, but apparently it’s not so bad for us, a natural fat. I’m hearing margarine and canola/peanut oils ARE very bad, in cooking once they heat up. Olive and coconut oil much better options But you know what? I was grossly overweight for a decade, and then once I lost 65 pounds I got all my issues from Long COVID I assume. I’m just put on close to 10 more, sitting around 252-115 KG…..and set pretty much a new record for steps, from 7 pm-9PM the following night was 30,000 in 26 hours. Best I’ve felt in a while….maybe my body likes the extra cushion? Anyway I’m 47.5, very few of us will make 100 or even 95…..it’s great to have a healthy lifestyle, but how many years are you really buying yourself doing it all perfect? Not many, genetics and plain good luck are more important

  27. Mickey D on my walk…..Christ inflation has made things expensive…..after our two wonderful taxes and upsizing the fries…..a nice round $15 CAD. Daddy is officially rolling over in his grave. At university in 1996, they did delivery and had a $1 Big Mac special….I gained 15 pounds that month! But……the spicy habanero chicken was fantastic, albeit gone in 4 bites

  28. Google Earth uses an algorithm to choose what they consider the best quality satellite image when you first select a site to view. In the case of Heathrow that happens to be an image from April 10, 2020 when air traffic was almost nil. To the view the most current image, one taken this month, click on the Show Historical Imagery icon. That will bring up the most current image, regardless of quality.

  35. Checked the manual bilge pump on the boat last weekend and it leaked. Fortunately I had a spare that also leaked at home. Purchased rebuild kit for the one at home and fitted rebuilt pump to the boat. I'm guessing this hole in the diaphragm shouldn't be there.... BOAT.... bring out another thousand....

  36. Been having trouble pissing for the last 6 weeks, it takes bloody ages to get started! Despite taking Tamsulosin for 12+ years. So I experimented with reducing my morphine drastically and found that it’s worked well, unfortunately the pain is obviously worse. Spoke to my GP over the phone when it started and she asked me to come in and see her. She was worried that it could be prostate problems and stuck her finger in too check, but declared that not to be enlarged. She also took blood for a PSV check and that came back as ok at 1.7 on the Richter scale. 🤣 We discussed reducing morphine and replacing it with Codeine and she gave me 2 months prescription, but I’ve decided not to take it, but haven’t told her that. I’m now down to 1/3rd of my normal morphine intake most days and yes it’s working as I can now pee pretty much on demand, the down side is of course the pain can be extreme and my mobility is much reduced, with times that I can’t even get out of my chair. I know I’ll never be able to give up Morphine completely, but reducing it is got to me good, if only for a while. I’m determined to reduce it for 3 months and deal with the pain as I feel more awake and with it when I’m taking less of it. I can always try Codeine as a stop gap, but replacing one opioid with another isn’t what I want. I know that my spine is getting worse fast, but there’s nothing I or the surgeons can do about that, but I can do something about my opiate intake, at least for the short term. 👍

  37. The thing is a few years back there were hundreds of hot girls to be found all over Pattaya. Most gogos would have so many that apart from the super stars of the place, prices stayed stable and reasonable. Now it looks like there are only two or three with hot ones left in Pattaya by comparison, so you have a concentration of high prices. There is a massive shortage of girls in general and many places are struggling to attract the ones that are there. Pattaya still has a lot to offer, but I can't see it ever getting back to the number of bars/gogos stuffed full of girls as it has been over the years. A shame, but the reality of what has happened. Time will tell as it always does methinks.
