Saw mentioned on another board officials have banned air horns in bars, only bells allowed. Great news if true as they're as obnoxious as loud music blasting from bars.

Wish they had started with banning bikes with loud pipes.

Pattaya Police Ban Airhorns at Bars Citing Noise Pollution

Bar operators in Pattaya have been told to mute their airhorns after residents in nearby areas bombarded police with numerous noise complaints.
In an official statement addressed to bar operators in Pattaya, Pattaya City says the following:

The Pattaya authorities have recently issued an official statement regarding the management and control of businesses within the Pattaya city area. The statement aims to prevent disturbances that may negatively impact the health of the public.

The authorities received multiple complaints from residents about the loud noise caused by the use of airhorns, whistles, and boat horns at bars and other nightlife establishments in Pattaya. To address this issue, the authorities have requested cooperation from business operators to comply with the following regulations:

  1. Open and close establishments during the hours specified by law.
  2. Control the use of music and other loud noises within the establishment and refrain from using airhorns, whistles, and boat horns inside or outside of the establishment.
  3. Remove any existing airhorns, whistles, or boat horns from the establishment.

These regulations must be fully complied to by March 15, 2023, to prevent any further disturbances to residents in the surrounding areas.

These horns are commonly used in bar areas as an alternative to bells to give drinks to all the staff, or just the hostesses, notes TPN media. Bells were not banned by the new order. It is also unclear if the horns may still be allowed in completely enclosed venues like gogos.

The imminent coming of Las Vegas gogo has been well publicised but I am surprised at the amount of lit neon signs there are for a place which looks to be a week or two away from opening.

Diagonally opposite, in the direction of Soi Buakhao, is this (I think beside Zoom Bar, but not certain of that):

Shopping:-

- Mikes Shopping Mall for Nike Trainers 600 Baht

- Tony Candy's for a baseball cap and two pairs of shorts. All good quality and each was 250 Baht.

- Thailand Night Market for a shirt 250 Baht.

I thought I'd give some feedback as I have used everything and the clothes have been through a couple of washes..

- The trainers from Mikes are very comfortable. I'm very happy with spending 600 Baht on them but the tread is already beginning to wear away.. Even if I get them re-soled I still consider them a bargain.

- The baseball cap from Tony Candy's was my only extravagance as I am used to paying 70 Baht a cap but the quality is obvious. The shorts are the star of the show and prompted this post. After 2 washes no dangly bits of thread, the colour is good and they are now my favourite walking attire. I'll be back!

- The shirt from the night market was also more than I'm normally willing to pay but by f**k it is now my favourite shirt ...

Saw posted elsewhere they're replacing the old MIT beer bars with... drum roll... new beer bars.

I've been told by a person who bought one of the locations in there they've already sold them out I know a couple people that were in there and their rent was 10000 a month you can bet it's going to be at least three times that maybe not but all that construction doesn't come cheap

The rent in the new MIT is 26000 to 30000 Baht a month depending on location with an extra yearly fee of 260000 to 300000 Baht. All 50 locations were sold in a day. They had to pay 50000 Baht first an another 100000 Baht when construction start.

Sadly for me, Kiss Food and Drink on Naklua Road is to be reopened as a clinic.  The illuminated signs were removed some time ago,  however, quite an amount of work has been done over the last week or so.  Personally, I will be sorry because it was only a short walk from my condo.  Kiss Food and Drink has/had its lovers and haters, however, it had a modern kitchen and I always found the food there to be satisfactory, but without frills.

Good luck to them 50 bars say 10 girls per bar they should have no trouble finding 500 new girls to go to work piece of cake

I'm guessing a fairly loose definition of "girls."

Some extra information on the new MIT. It is expected to open in November this year. The plots are 5 by 7 Meter. The lady I have this information from had a bar in the old MIT. It was a bigger bar with 2 pool tables. She paid an average of 24000 Baht a month. She has bought the same location, but can only put 1 pool table, and she will pay an average of 48000 Baht a month (monthly pay of 26000 Baht and 260000 Baht a year) which is double for a smaller area. There a many bar owners who had to look for a new bar when MIT suddenly closed and bought a bar that was available at that time. Some of them bought a lot in the new MIT. So you will see that at the end of this year bars scattered over Pattaya will have a sign to be sold.

Out to do some laundry last night....

So whilst the machine was making my closes less dirty,  I went inside...

Was escorted in by a ladyboy, and greeted by an empty bar/club/whatever. Empty of people that is. 3 pullman style seating areas as you enter, with a pool table, bar infront, which had a 5 year old on a phone behind. Large empty expanse to the far left.  I didn't stay...

Went back today for some daytime shots

The rest of the complex is as deserted and derelict as it has been for years...

Wasn't that called the Rehab complex ( iirc ) , I remember drinking there a few times when it first opened ..

Rehab was the GoGo/club, the complex was called Blue Rahtree.

When Rehab failed it became an open beer bar called Lucky Star. Sat there a few nights enjoying a beer and watching the world go by.

I thought it was the blue rahtree complex, and rehab was a gogo that opened (and obviously closed) where the 7-11 is, but may be wrong.

Regardless, I can't see this new club surviving..... shame, as if it were any good as a gogo, I could kill 30 minutes whilst doing the laundry!

Edit.... bugger, beaten by fbwu

Rehab was the GoGo/club,

The daytime agogo was on t'other side of the street.. In my memory it had lovely sexy middle aged slim women in very skimpy attire ....Much much better than the old munters that were in the other daytime agogos in the Soi Post office area..

I am probably (but not quite sure) referring to when I lived up North and drove down for "visa runs" so maybe 15 years ago ..
