I didn't really know what to expect, something like a stout or porter, I guess, but it's not at all like those. As far as I could tell, it's a bottom-fermented lager beer but the malt is roasted, as it is for stout. Actually, from the light taste, I'd say it was more like toasted rather than roasted. It's missing the wonderful creaminess of a good stout, as well as the long-lasting head. I don't know if the Germans have their own version of stout, but if not then they could learn a thing or two from us and the Irish. It was basically inoffensive, at 4.9% ABV it was average strength, the taste was light but there are certainly lighter beers around, and at 150 Baht for a can it was damn expensive. I'd sooner spend the money on a can of Guinness or O'Hara's, thanks. I'd call it a Dark lager, I'm a stout man but there are some great dark lagers out there. Maybe this one was a duffer? I love trying different beer brands and styles. I'm reconciled that I will bump into a few that aren't for me. Now sour beers, that's a style I really can't get into🙂 Not German but the Budiweiser Dark is a wonderful dark lager https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/304/35967/ 1

Think last time I had it was in Prague!

Toy Boy
This was a new one for me, I'm a lager drinker rather than a stout man, but I enjoy a drop of the back stuff now and again. I picked this one up in Friendship, I think it was on offer at either 99 Baht or 110 Baht. It's got the nitrogen charge so produces a lovely, creamy head, and I really enjoyed this beer, a lot better than O'Hara's Irish stout in my opinion. It has a really nice aftertaste, like caramel, and it's only 4.3% ABV so not trying to be too muscular. I'll buy that one again, very nice indeed.
boydeste
Have been drinking every day for three weeks now, nothing heavy, but still not good. Back home from my 3 weeks fishing in France and Canada so back off the booze midweek again. Been drinking water all day.
Horizondave
Pint of Doom Bar (shock and horror at only choice) in the Flying Horse, Wilson street, near Liverpool Street station. Shocked it is only £5.10 for the pint and a kids lemonade. Porn Is number 82 in the queue. She walked in for her appointment at 1.30pm and they were dealing with number 54. Latest message says they are dealing with number 67, hence retiring to the pub 2 mins away from the Greek Visa Centre. 2

Horizondave
Lancaster Bomber, a nice brew. Morrisons are doing quite a lot of English Ales at £1.25 to £1.30 which is quite a saving over their regular price for a beer. Bought Marston's Pedigree at £1.30, the Bomber was £1.25. 2

Toy Boy
Another one from Friendship. I actually went there looking for more of the Belhaven Black, but they were out of that, evidently I'm not the only person who liked it. I came away instead with some Oettinger Pils, I think it was around 100 or 110 Baht for a can, plus the Warsteiner Brewers Gold which is now one of my regular refreshments. The Pils was quite decent, with a surprisingly good, long-lasting head and a pleasant, refreshing taste. All the same, I don't really see any justification for paying 40 Baht more than I would for a can of locally-brewed SML, or a can of Bud imported from Vietnam.
