forcebwithu
Beach Rd. repaving is done on the north end. The palm trees are now sporting big ass, super bright street lights. Better remember to bring sunglasses if you're going to walk the footpath at night. There's also a whole slew of new combination street and footpath lights. The north end shower is still sitting uncompleted. Although it looks like they've hooked up the water main. New "5G signs" getting a test run. Working on another shower farther south. I was tempted to remind them they having finished the one to the north yet. Working on more lights to turn night into day. Road resurfacing is now up to the Hilton. Work on giving the manhole covers an six inch erections. 2nd Road drainage junction with Soi 15. Popular Post forcebwithu
Soi 15 watched for about 10 minutes while they squeezed the excavator through an opening just barely big enough. At this point I thought for sure I was going to witness the equipment tumbling over into the hole. 7

fforest
On the walkway... So there will be new floodlights on the tall floodlights... New light from the new streetlights.. New floodlights on the Palm trees.. New light from the 5g sighs.. This massive light overkill should be the last nail in the coffin for Beach Road...... Bazle
At 5.30pm today, Soi 15 was totally inaccessible from Second Road, even for pedestrians. I thought I'd be clever and enter via the small soi that runs parallel to Second Road (where the Hangover Lounge is), but it proved to be a dumb thought, not a clever one! I had to walk all the way to The Avenue to get to Soi 15. 4 1

Looks like they filled in what was an open trench on Thursday. In your pic it looks like you could have got through via the path next to the tree. 1 1
Yessongs
@forcebwithu Great pics, last April when we were there, things were looking better overall. Now with the re-paving etc. looks even better I think.
johnpat
This is the head of the construction work that's been putting wires underground. They have been moving quickly down second road from the Central Festival Mall and have passed the Royal Garden mall on the way to, one assumes, Pattaya Tai. But there's a problem if you turn 180 degrees. There's the soi 15 crew who have been taking forever to make the junction of the soi 15 pipe and the second road pipe. They've had their side of the road blocked for ages. If the construction crews meet second road will be shut off completely. That may explain why the soi 15 crew were working long hours last night but as of this morning there's still a lot of them to do. 1 1

Iconic my azz......Has not been Iconic for a looong time....And gets less Iconic with every " improvement" Don't they notice the beach is mostly empty of people during daylight hours?.. Popular Post forcebwithu
Soi 15 update: Looks like they be be able to start pouring the concrete road surface later this afternoon. Grand Avenue entrance is now concrete. Bailing to find the Korando's Creek leak. Sure hope these guys don't have any open wounds. 6 2

Our government funding gets reduced for train delays that get blamed on maintenance issues. Our overhead linesmen carry frozen possums in their work trucks and these get thrown around for major faults. We don't get penalised for force majeure events. 1 1
johnpat
Two days ago this intersection of Soi 15 and Soi Buakhao had rebar down and was ready to be concreted.... But they've made negative progress here (although they did repair the break in the big pipe) 6

My guess is the city contracted for a new road surface X meters wide, but the contractor thought they could get away with leaving in place the old concrete to save a few baht. Then the city inspector came by and caught what they were doing and told them to do it right. @bob lt's picture below from Sunday showing the rebar in place with the old concrete on both sides of the road that hadn't been broken up and removed. I'm also noticing how the concrete cover at the top end of Soi 15 doesn't leave them much depth for the new concrete road surface. Expect to see that area cracking and breaking apart within a short time of the new road opening to traffic. 4

Smart Cities ......Where to start? It's all bad so I won't start... All this new industrial lighting really destroys the night atmosphere on the beach and the walkway.....As planned.. Night Photo Night photo There will be loads of this horrible lighting in the Palm trees.. Edited September 14, 2023 by fforest 3 1
