That was my Thai health insurance who pulled my Thai medical records, of which there were zero!

Okay, but they did try, and i suppose if you have none to be found, then you have none to be found.

But i think for most of us, if they pull your regular GP ones, as they will try if they want, then everything's on it.

I mean, when i had food poisoning, was in Pattaya Memorial for a few days etc, they didn't pull anything.

But i think if you really needed them, had a heart attack or similar, something major, they definitely would. They've told me they would, as did my GP.

I have just completed an annual travel Insurance policy effective from the 1st December.

From a monetary point of view that is a no-brainer as the cost of a single trip cover for a monthly visit to Thailand is only 30 pounds less than the annual policy. With such a monthly trip booked for March and a week in Tenerife early next month my anticipated further travel next year will effectively cost me nothing as far as insurance is concerned.

I really didn't consider this but reading the small print I find that should any new medical condition, treatment, investigation or prescribed medication arise during the year I have to immediately advise that to the Insurers.

Yes, i'm the same, have an annual family travel policy, just makes sense.

Though as you say, with it being for a year, if anything changed medical wise during that time, you have to let them know, as they'll pull your records and find out anyway, which could invalidate the policy if you didn't.

I remember reading you posting before, tell them everything, don't leave any angle open to them to try and get out of paying.

Shouldn't it be made effective immediately as if you are incapacitated before then it won't pay out?

Unless of course you have other cover up until that date.

Just back from seeing my internal medicine doctor. Gave me the green light to quit my beta-blocker, as she thinks the dose is so tiny, I probably won't get tachycardia again, but WILL be more energetic. She has been by far the best professional I have dealt with during all this BS, so I have to trust her...I asked her if she had many patients similar to me, where COVID didn't kill them but greatly affected their quality of life....she said yes, but to stay positive as my symptoms started less than a year ago & only been seeing her for 9 months

been put on Amlodipine for the last 2 weeks and it’s made my BP rocket to 185/85 on average.

I was on that when I first got high BP....a listed side effect is swollen feet & ankles, which is water retention which puts your BP up.I soon got off them.

I wanted it to start from the 1st December because I plan to make a second monthly trip to Thailand for the month of November 2024. I will take the chance on my trip to Tenerife on the 6th December.

Things have been really difficult lately mentally. Watching Jan deteriorate has basically torn me apart.

She only has a few weeks left so it’s been a fucking hard period of my life

I don’t know, afterwards what is the point of carrying on?.

Words can be so inadequate in these circumstances.

For most of us the only thing that works is time and distance after sad and tragic events.

Its easier said then done, but after grieving and remembering we have to get on with it.

Krapow's comment below makes the point excellently, IMO.

@galenkia I don't know what to say mate....You knew the time has been coming and spend all the days you can with her, but nothing softens the blow still....I think you said in your family all you have left is each other....that's rough but you got many friends too. Stay busy, stay clean, vent about your problems, get it all off your chest, hit the heavy bag/speed bag with Frank Bruno, buy yourself a new toy.....and take a damn vacation FFS...She wants you to enjoy yourself, not be sad

You got this buddy

@galenkia Well said Eric, Alan, even though we have never met in person, I can tell you are a class act and you have been through alot and overcome some serious things in your life, you got alot of friends here. I would hope one day, you would come back here to LOS and we could meet up. We will not drink any alcohol, and STILL have a great time. I will tell all the girls you used to be in "The Bay City Rollers"  I know you got the accent, we can pull this off :default_getdown:

I strained my back yesterday, i was bending down to pick up a pan of food from the floor and i suddenly felt my back "go" (the weight of this massive vat of green curry is irrelevant as i didn't even get to the stage of picking it up)

I tried an ice-pack and a few codeine/paracetamol and surprisingly it's not too bad today (even managed to put my socks on with a bit of a contortion and whimpering). I really hope this recovery continues, i was a grumpy c**t yesterday expecting the worst.

Gal,

It's hell mate, I know. Many, many others in here understand how difficult it is, and will be for you.

Just ride through the seemingless endless storm that you are in the middle of.

At some point a little bit of peace will come back to you. Although you will be forever changed.

Pull though it man. Those of us in here who care for you are expecting it.

After my girlfriend of 7 years took her life in 2001, I won’t say what happened to make her do it, But Jan took a month’s holiday off work to help me. She would not leave my side 24/7 as she was so concerned about me. She knows I’m very mentally unstable and worries about me all the time.

I need Jan and I don’t know if I have the ability to cope without her.

You are more stable than you give yourself credit for mate. You are human and feeling pain is a big part of it.

Yea, there's that one, and also going against doctor's advice.

I mean it's no biggee, just go in get it taken, out, 20mins max. Save me doing it at home that day.

My Doctors surgery has a BP monitor in the waiting room.

Just slide your arm into the machine and it does the rest, plus it gives you a printout of the results that you can then give to receptionist who give it to your GP.

No waiting and the machine is regularly calibrated, so you know it’s right. 👍

Got to see the muscular skeletal specialist at my surgery a couple of hours ago about the sciatica pain I’ve had for months and he bollocked me for not seeing him sooner.
He’s fast tracking me to the specialist county hospital department to have a ganglion block in the nerve.🤗

So, with things as they are in the NHS at the moment, I’ll be getting an appointment sometime in 2026😟

Sorry everyone, I meant to write Amlytriptylene, not Amlodipine. 😟
