forqalso
I was just thinking about how long it has been since I bought an album. Decades, maybe since I’ve bought vinyl. I think the last LP I bought was Blizzard of Oz, maybe in 1985. For cd’s, it was Neil Diamond’s album called 12 Sings. Gee, that was released nearly twenty years ago. I moved away from purchasing hard copies when I had a car with Sirius radio. Now I stream my music via Apple Music, which is great. Almost any song you want is available and it does a great job; maybe better than a lot of radio stations, of keeping the theme of the playlist on track. I never understood a radio station playing something like Metallica and following it with James Taylor.
Krapow
Honestly can't remember, but it will have been on ebay. Still have all my vinyl though, thankfully. Some classics, Love will Tear us Apart original 7inch, loads of punk stuff.
Nightcrawler
I must admit downloading many albums for free using Vuze, but this was the last CD I actually purchased in HMV,Oxford Street
Derek Dangleberries
How odd that you start this thread when I have been searching online to buy CDs!! M'Lady's car has a CD Player and I'd like to purchase a few !!! The last CD I bought was probably a Nina Simone Compilation that I gave to a Chilean PM that I fancied when I was working in Argentina... She used it as an excuse to move her team out of our offices ........

ChiFlyer
I am not at all certain, but it might well have been"Toad the Wet Sprocket". Or perhaps something by the "Meat Puppets".

boydeste
I still have a Pioneer separates system with a CD player and occasionally I will crank it up whilst doing jobs around the house and work through some of my old CDs. It still sounds great. 1
Trip
I buy them frequently at Walmart.com $5/ea on the Clearance tab. Useful for vehicles that still have a CD player and you can't be bothered with streaming, thumb drives, phones, etc. Sometimes it's fun to go old school, but I draw the line at 8-tracks. richy65
"Blue and Lonesome" a set of blues covers by The Rolling Stones in 2016. I've still got hundreds of CD's, used to go to HMV every week.

I had an 8 track in my first car when I was age 17, many many years ago. lol Surely they are well gone now?
Lirchenfeld
Must have been sometime in 199? Can't remember which one it was. Gave most of my cd collection to a charity shop.

They are hard to find and consequently attract a premium, sort of perverse. I still have one in an old Chevy but it tends to eat the tapes and the tapes of course are almost as hard to find now. Yessongs
6 weeks ago, I bought a new CD player here at one of the fancy, dancy open markets here locally. These young guys know their shit right? They speak good English too...you can imagine the look on their face when I roll up with my Honda SUV and ask them to show me some of the "CD players" they have and if one is available LOL! They didn't even laugh at me..thankfully. There were basically none on the main floor, but they had several in the back room right? This kid brings out this "Kenwood" player, tells me all about it.........OK done deal. Installed in 1 hour, 4k baht out the door.....this thing is great, all my CD's I had shipped over here work well. Was downtown at Siam Square about a month ago, they had this old school type shop located outside, across the street. This one store had a ton of used CD's...100 baht any one you wanted.......knowing what I had in my collection.....I DID NOT have "Frampton Comes Alive" I have it now......"Do you, you...feel like I do"

The PC was on sale and came with a collection of 10 CD-roms. The shop assistant pointed to a crate and said I could select the disk from there. The disks were either demos, shareware games or porn pictures from various BBS. Being a 14-16 year old hormone filled teenager I naturally chose 10 porn cd's. 😁 Edited April 23 by Lirchenfeld
forcebwithu
Almost all my CD's I purchased via subscriptions to Columbia House's mail order club. I built up quite a collection of CD's taking advantage of the their signup bonus promos and then cancel the subscription. Rinse and repeat. I still listen to the music that was on those CD's as a long time ago I converted them to MP3 files.

ChiFlyer
9 hours ago, Trip said: Takes me back to when one of the greatest bands no one talks about now had both Steve Marriott and Frampton in it ... I rattled on about this once before, but the situation might be worth revisiting. Upon finishing my less than stellar college education, I rejoined my South Side of Chicago mates. We made a road trip run to Milwaukee to take in a "Humble Pie" October concert. "Humble Pie" opened with "30 Days in the Hole" and the crowd went nuts. I mean absolutely nuts. The beer tents were raided and the concert was declared a free beer concert in order to avoid riots. Me and my mates went absolutely delusional nuts after 3 days of alcohol and drug abuse. To this day I can not remember everything that happened. I do remember that at one point we stole a boat and I was driving it. One of our crew disappeared and was arrested 100 miles away for assaulting an underage girl. Good times. -> not so much. "Black Coffee" is my favorite "Humble Pie" song.
