I have always liked walking round Pattaya in the morning.Would do a good 4 miles or more most days. One i would do occasionally would be from WS to Wongamat beach. That was a killer.😀Would have a few beers on the beach and get the baht bus back to South Pattaya, wherever i was heading. At night on the way home i would get the baht bus or a motorbike as i was usually smashed with a girl in tow. When i stayed in North Pattaya i would walk from Dolphin roundabout to Naklua market which is a fair hike in the heat.6 points

Actually it was me that approached "him" which resulted in a very positive meeting but an understanding that the timing was not right. I am assuming we are talking about the same "him" now enjoying retirement. Anyway, I thought it was ME that got the "royal f##king over". 🤣5 points

I think the problem goes back a little further than the Scooters merger. It was pretty obvious that most the regulars and locals had already stopped going into Secrets 1 to 2 years before. The reasons vary from BM to BM but there was no doubt that people were losing interest in Secrets as a bar of choice. It went from not being able to get a seat in the intire house to being amazed if there were 3 customers in the whole place. I think it safe to say that politics and the changing of the guard was its downfall. It would take a real promoter / salesman to get the numbers back up. Many of the familiar faces from 5 to 10 years ago are no longer around and their seats were never filled by new blood. Sad to see a once great bar die a death of empathy but the magic just isn't there anymore.4 points

the newbie is me. I finlly got to come here. in Saigon now and day 2 of a short escape. First impressions : clean, no fuckin dogs around and bustling city without cars but a shed load of bikes. loving the food and the atmosphere at the weekend here in the old city. Weather this mornign was super cool, yesterday mid afternoon was also cooler than Thailand. Will post photos later but will be crap compared to the good ones from others I know. But really happy here. nice hotel, freindly people etc etc. (damn I sound like a newbie thailand 555)2 points

I am very interested in Vietnam. Good thread. Wanna learn more and some good posts here. Strange though seeing all the names of sights on here. 50 some years ago these names were war zones mentioned by relatives and friends that fought in that bull shit so called "war". Refreshing to see this country a land of sun and fun now. The way things are going with the £ and the AUD exchange rates, it could only be a matter of time before the greenback follows. Maybe not sooner than later but I have to keep my options open when I retire as a place to live 10 months out of the year.2 points

No just turn up and make sure you have a copy of your return flight printed out. I had it on my laptop as a PDF and the guy wanted to see it then waved it taxi waiting hotel ready and hit the town. Vietnam is fantastic I have say ....... different in so many ways to Thailand but the history, scenery and food and beer ..........+ all naughty nightlife is there too. Can really see why you are pissed off with Thailand ........you would love Vietnam and its also really cheap.2 points

Ok, so is it just me or does anyone else see the figure of a cute little gals body bending over to the left and exposing a beautifully formed rear end and slowly slithering out of her dress and letting it fall to the floor. I can see her left arm and further to the left her long blond hair cascading down to her ankles All this while pretending to be a depiction of chefs hat on the menu........2 points

John McCririck R.I.P Feel conflicted here as met the guy a few times , what he should be remembered for is as an excellent investigative journalist on the long defunct Sporting Life where he excelled. How he is remembered is as the cartoon betting pundit( he went bust as a bookie , most of his TV betting output was nonsense) or God forbid a reality TV "star" He was so much better than that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/488812902 points

Not in the Pattaya area, but a bike path in Nakhon Phanom made the news. Unsafe new Mekong riverside cycling path closed A new cycling path along the Mekong riverbank has been closed after part of it collapsed only two days after an inaugural cycling event to promote tourism. The cycling path, in Muang district, is about 1.1 kilometres long and only recently built, and was still awaiting acceptance by the provincial hall. A viewpoint section about 50 metres long collapsed on Tuesday. Engineers from the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning examined the path's structure and found many structural cracks and a mudslide had already affected its foundation. The engineers said the structure as built could not withstand the riverbank erosion caused by recent heavy rain. The collapse occurred only two days after the Tourism Authority of Thailand and local authorities held a cycling event along the path on Sunday to promote local tourism. Chanchai Sribenja of a Nakhon Phanom cycling club said on Friday that cycling events organised alongside the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom were popular with local tourists. The collapse of the new cycling path could have a negative impact. Enforcing construction standards would be an effective solution, he said.1 point

I was out last night. Folks at the Windmill told me about the police raid the previous night and how a manager and mamsan were taken away as well as an under 20 dancer. However it was business as usual last night at the Windmill. in the past closure orders take a while to happen.. it could be that something will come of this raid in the days to come. I found that Electric Blue was also raided that same night but I don't think any staff were hauled away. Last night the ladies were wearing bikini tops and skirts.... nothing showing.. As a result there were just a few customers unlike a normal Friday night.. Then I went to a gogo on Walking Street near the police stand and the girls were topless and bouncing up an down on customers doing lap dances. The inconsistency of the rules here is amazing.1 point

Listened to Talksport while driving to golf today and they did a piece on him. Apparently it was after Channel 4 decided to revamp their horse racing programme and dispensed with his services that he went downhill quickly. It hit him hard. Had a great wife behind him apparently, who looked out for him in every aspect of his life. I'm not into horse racing at all, but he was a great personality and a good watch, particularly when he was on general programmes not related to horse racing. Controversial sometimes, he called a spade a spade, was very blunt at times and upset a few people, but he just said things as he saw them. Nowt wrong with that. Rest in peace John.1 point

I always stay first week at Secrets then 3 other hotels after that around the city. Somewhere down the line I always stay at Queen Victoria on soi 6. Last 2 trips I would be at Secrets drinking with Boydeste, Moonfly and a few others till the wee hours and then walk back to the Queen Victoria. I would text the guys when I got to the hotel to say I had arrived safe and sound. On the average it would take me 30 to 40 minutes to make the trip. I would clock it from the entrance to WS on Beach Rd to the back door to the QV. Not a bad hike if I do say so myself. But I love to walk and do so everyday so am used to it.1 point

Don't worry about that at all. The subject matter of the photo is far more important than the quality. Personal photo's bring the forum to life.1 point
