  1. These taking around 7 a.m. nothing gets going here until about 10 in the morning. I'm staying at the train station hotel which is attached directly to the train station and I couldn't find a cup of coffee anywhere in the area this morning at 6. So I took a walk and got these photos while I was out looking for and finding a coffee

  2. As this is an existing thread, I’ll update it with a brief report on Singapore airlines. overall the experience was very good, we travelled economy on this one, but I was very impressed.the A380 econ seating is 3-4-3 on the lower deck, with average legroom and comfortable seats, although it is not easy to find the correct position for a sleep I found. There are no IFE boxes under any of the seats so foot room is unrestricted. masks are mandatory, and a cleaning kit is supplied along with headphones. we travelled on the busiest day of the year , only to be met with a poorly signed diversion at Heathrow. We left late as the cabin crew were stuck in traffic!! IFE interface is good, decent selection of films and tv shows, along with some nice touches on the seat such as a mirror integrated into the tray table, multi option plugs at the rear of the seat in front of you, USB ports for charging / data transfer and a good and very accurate flight plan. food was excellent, 2 choices of chicken or prawns , good portions served 2 hours into the flight with breakfast of eggs or chicken served 4 hours prior to landing. Snacks and drinks available throughout, and Cabin crew were very easy on the eye as well as being very quick and attentive. the SIN-MNL A350 was largely similar to the A380 but with smaller overhead cabins and a slightly different IFE interface. on arrival in Manila, I was given a one year visa, which is par for the course if you ask nicely and tell the immigration officer you’re married to a Filipina. It is discretionary. Economy seating, can be a bit tight if you’re a big lad. Or lady. Terminal 2 before ensuing chaos. Our A388 1 year visa.

  7. I miss Tony. One of my favorite people of all time.... I have been to many great bars, and many not so great - all over the World. My favorite 3 were all located near my home, back in the day... - The Esquire Lounge - located in Champaign Illinois. Nice place. Started out very small, then grew and grew and grew. Great location, great bartenders, huge assortment of beer, great food. My "go to" place for hanging with friends and meeting some nice "ladies". - Todd and John's, Urbana Illinois (Now a very popular rib joint). One of my best friends owned and operated it. Hole in the wall type place, but very comfortable. Great friends and great fun. - The Silver Bullet Bar, Urbana Illinois. The best hole in the wall strip club. $10 table dances and beers for $2 (back in the day). An absolute gold mine, and always a blast. What are yours ?

  8. Cut the grass, trimmed the edges, repaired the split hose pipe, pumped some water out of the pond so the return water creates some oxygen and cleaned the filter foams. Just had a delivery from 2 x world fly fishing champion, took the opportunity to get a few tips, as you would. LOL Time for my daily stroll, hope to do 3 miles today, but am feeling quite tired, so we will see!

  10. Lunch at Sizzler (with the sun behind me). I haven't been here for about six weeks. The Australian loin steak is up 50 Baht, the New York strip up 100 Baht. They've added a ribeye for the same price as the strip, but didn't actually have it when I ordered, so back to the loin and extra salad.

  13. Haha - my son was also present and yes, what a monster hash brown. Apparently the fried bread was superb so I’m told 😎 all that , two soft drinks and a cuppa was 420thb I think so represents good value for wholesome and flavoursome food

  18. I get some discount on Qatar flights when they are code share to BA so I am offered flights to Bangkok via Doha. Back before Christmas when I knew BA was not going to operate to BKK I was quoted around £2700 for 2 adults and 1 child out 21 July and back 30 August; that did go down to £2400 a couple of weeks later after Christmas. I checked for flights today and Qatar flights were showing over £4000, I even looked at flying to Singapore for the same dates (as a possible connecting point to BKK) and was quoted over £5000. I know this is peak period ex UK to Bangkok (school holidays) but I am so grateful for booking a fully flexible ticket on Finnair for £1757 back at Christmas time. Fares don't seem to be going down although I am only looking at peak period.

  21. Good, cheap, old fashioned comfort food. I like to jazz mine up by putting butter and marmite on the toast then layer the beans onto the toast with melted cheese. Add Worcestershire sauce, HP sauce (a tamarind based brown sauce) and season with lots of black pepper.

  27. The Mechanic and The Cardiologist A Lexus mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a LS460 when he spotted a well known cardiologist in his shop. The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his car when the mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc, want to take a look at this?" The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I opened its heart, took the valves out, repaired or replaced anything damaged, and then put everything back in, and when I finished, it worked just like new. So how is it that I make $48,000 a year and you make $1.7M, when you and I are doing basically the same work?" The cardiologist paused, leaned over, and then whispered to the mechanic....... "Try doing it with the engine running.”

  28. On the darkside, a big chunk of land off of Soi Nern Plub Wan across from Soi 22 is being developed. No signs as to what's going in. With the mosquito breeding grounds, excuse me, water features, perhaps a park? And on the brightside, the road to Dany's Sports Bar should be completed by end of day.

  29. Yep, the space is now fully utilized for additional seating. In fairness to New Plaza, I don't think it was ever intended as a footpath. That plus I'm pretty sure the road on either side is privately owned, so they're free to use the space however they see fit.

  37. Not the main topic of the video but Assienda up for sale around 9 mins 40. Looking for circa 1 million Baht, so around £23k. Doesn't seem like much of a return for all the work he appears to have put into it- not an easy way to make money

  40. Next evening we had some seafood: whinged bean salad with shrimps, Pla kapong nueng manao and omlette with crab. Washed down with a Riesling. The wine was served from the restaurant next door, called The wave. Opened some 9 month ago, the food pics on their web site looked awesome, will try it on my next visit. Cocktails were great, Gin tonic and a Daiquiri: We enjoyed the trip, but 2 nights were more than enough.
