  4. Often met with the reply "I thought you knew" Such as today, getting to the Barrier at the hospital car park on the way out, to find it upright. It's free parking on Sunday for visitors in one of the car parks, but I paid anyway and the machine happily took my money, all £3.90 of it. Wife said "Didn't you know it was free on Sundays?, I did". Or arriving in Turkey back in 2015, getting to the room and I couldn't find the keys to my very secure Samsonite Case. "You left them on the Kitchen table - I remembered just after we left" Sheesh.

  5. I wonder how many bars in Tree Town are making a profit? I would hazard a guess, very few. Same old, same old. Too many bars all chasing the same diminished number of potential customers. Yet new "beer gardens" continue to open hoping they will be different. Give me a comfortable air conditioned bar with a good sound system, nice eye candy and reasonable prices any day.

  6. It’s not a “fine”! 👮‍♂️ It was an accident, he got caught up in the cables because he wasn’t looking where he was going. He was the one who suggested he’d pay me back, not I, I was all for forgetting it and letting it drop. Like the PC did. 🤣 He understands that his inattentiveness caused the computer to be broken and that he was at fault and needs to cover some, or all of the costs of a replacement. I haven’t told him yet, but I’ll stop when he’s paid off £100, which I think is fair. How are kids ever to learn, if they never have to pay in some form and learn from their mistakes. Hopefully he’ll pay attention next time. 🤪 I’m proud of him as a 13 year old for making the offer of financial recompense for something that he caused, especially as I didn’t see it happen and he could have come up with any excuse rather than tell the truth, but he didn’t, he came to me and owned up to it, 😇 many kids wouldn’t have done. We’ve always instilled in him to tell the truth and it looks like it’s worked. He gets £200 a month on his kids cash card to spend as he wishes, so will hardly miss £20 a month. Kids, especially boys of his age, have their heads in the clouds most of the time, but he’s a loving and thoughtful son and not only has he learned a lesson, he’s gone up greatly in my esteem. 🤗

  9. I don't bother with pools - I never developed a liking for water considering the natural water in my part of the world is not much above freezing even in mid-summer; and my parents never enrolled me in swimming lessons when I was a child so I still can't swim a stroke. I was never one for lazing around on beaches either, I'd rather be walking. How you do go on sometimes.....lol....more chance of getting shocked in your Thai home shower, methinks....

  10. Young Smiler is also 13 (14 in May) so I know where you are coming from Don. Really don’t envy young teenagers of today, what with the pressures of social media, teen angst etc etc. Like you I am also incredibly proud that my lad tells us the truth, I was an absolute nightmare at his age and one of my greatest fears as a Dad was that he would be like me. Thankfully he is not (apart from his build) and long may that continue.

  13. Yep. The icing on the cake, particularly in the back portion was many bars having their own live music playing as loud as possible, just to make sure any customers left the area as soon as they could. Talk about to how to sabotage their own businesses in one easy step. The pity was at one stage some of those bars had some reasonable talent in their line ups.

  14. This is brilliant on ITVX, absolutely disgusting how people were treated by a large corporation who would not accept their f**k up. Many people lost everything, even jailed and took their lives, just because the Post Office and Fujitsu wouldn’t accept their computer system was flawed.

  19. Yesterday as I entered into the produce section of my regular market (Rimping, Kad Farang Village) a young lad (lass) store worker approached me with some apple slice samples. I was about to shrug her (him) off until I looke down at the price, 19 bhat/apple. My eyes just about popped out of my sockets. Usually the American apples they stock are 139 baht/apple (so they have been a "no go" for me). Sometimes they have a Chinese apple that goes for 39 baht that I will do once in a while. So, I grab 3 of them and went on my way. Today I whipped up a grilled ham & cheese sanni, cut up a couple of those apples, threw in a banana and a nice glass of mater juice.
