Since there are sign boards advertising the 2 for 1 I see it as a marketing gimmick rather than a scam. But I do agree it pisses enough people off I wonder why the owners haven't caught on that it's a bad marketing gimmick. They also lose customers such as myself when I'm looking to have only one more drink before heading home or moving on to another venue.

I don't know if they still do it, but at least at Billabong you could tell the staff you only want one drink and that's all you would pay for, although at a slightly higher per drink price than if you ordered the two drink special.

I once tried to get them to give me a water as a second drink. They refused: it was another beer or nothing.

Crazy!

That is definitely my favourite bar in that area .... but on my last trip into town I discovered that the "railing seats" are not protected from the rain as the awning doesn't extend that far. Bloody annoying really !!

That bar used be run by a girl who was the cashier previously at the Rockhouse. Can't remember her name but she had a very large chest and I think she was running it for the owner when he was away. I remember her when she was working also as a cleaner in the Scandinavian bar right across the back of the 'Best Friend Complex' on Beach road.

Last saw her in a bar in Hua Hin a few years back but she was a friendly girl.

It does seem a nice bar with comfortable chairs. Not a lover of billabong myself.

Went to the Triangle bar thought I'd try it out. Had a place mat that said All beer and spirits two for one. I asked the waitress (always looking for the scam) does that mean two drinks for the price of one. She said yes. I got the first drink and looked at the bin and the price was for two drinks. When I queried it they said that's right you get the one price for two drinks. Nice scam. First and last time I will go to the Triangle bar. Spoke to a guy on the way out and he got caught with the same thing. Said he was leaving after he finished the drink so two potential regulars that they lost. Not that they will care.

when it first opened you did get exactly that (2 drinks and paid for 1) so has it changed now ?

For as long as I can remember they've advertised buy 2 drinks for the price of 1, but the reality of the promo has always been you paid for 2 drinks at a time and received a slight discount on the price per drink compared to per drink prices at some of the nearby bars.

I remember her well, her name was Ouy and I believe she became involved with a fellow who had business interests in the Philippines; he built the original single-shophouse Time Bar for her to run which she did for a couple of years at least, then I think it was sold and became the bigger venue we enjoy now. I haven't seen or heard anything about her since but I partied with her lots back in the Roadhouse days, she did have an ample chest and a lovely head of hair and was lots of fun:

Sadly, she plumped out a little later, here's a photo from 2016:

I remember her name as Anna but my memory has proven to be shit of late. I first met her at Rock House when running with Ukguy and Rocktaff. Then she transfered to Time Bar as Gordon mentioned above. She was a great lady and very funny

Quite possible - they do change their names, or answer to more than one, occasionally...

Brian and I had this conversation and neither one of us could definitely remember her name. So he is going to call Rocktaff when he gets back home. Now if Rocktaff can't confuse the conversation even more, than nobody can.

The only female cashier in the RH that sticks in my mind is the one that was going to get married to an English bloke until she told him (truthfully) that she had 5 kids. In fact they were 5 kids by 5 different fathers but I'm not sure if she told him that bit. Either way he binned her and left ...

I'm guessing 10 years ago ....

Now I'm rather new to this particular project but it is coming along. Photos from this morning March 29th.

Nothing screams Vegas quite like a tin shack with dozens of miniature beer bars. Sure to be a rousing success ... not.

Might look a bit better at night ?

But still.......

Very cold beer, good pricing, good line ups will all need to be match fit....from day one

Well regarding good pricing the bar owners have no say in what the cost will be of drinks the ownership has said the drinks will be the same price for every bar in the complex. They feel it will be better to control things that way. I'm not sure I would be happy owning a bar and not being able to charge what I felt was a fair price. I'm also thinking that there won't be many two for one offers as it looks like things like that pricing and it's such we'll have to go through the owners not the individual bar owners but the owners of the whole place.

As far as music goes hopefully everybody will like the same type because on a better note I think it's going to be one type of music for the whole complex so they won't be fighting each other with separate music systems. That could be okay if the bars can agree on what will be played when. I for one hope this place is very successful looking forward to the opening night

Is it still the same Brit owner? Must have had it 15+ years if it is.

The original owner was American, from Oregon I think.  He'd started and owned a number of different kinds of businesses in the States.  It took him months to open Pitini as he imported a lot of the kitchen gear from Europe.  The idea was to make the operation kind of fool proof in that it would be as automated as possible.

He intended it to be a long term investment, but someone made him a great offer, so he sold it much sooner than he had intended and moved up north.

Fair enough.

I approach and assess all businesses I deal with on the basis of what they can do for me.

If this complex "offers" me "value, etc" I will check it out with a view to possible future visits.

The great thing about Pattaya is that there are heaps of places to choose from.

Probably as most night life places by definition put their best face forward when the lights come on. Like all businesses time will tell if the punt will be a success but given the infinite competing choices to wet one's whistle in Pattaya; it's not looking like a good bet.

It is different though, sort of like socialism for bars, everyone has to accept the same pricing, same music, etc.

I'd probably know her too - I was a pretty regular customer from 2009 until 2012 or so and have plenty of photos of the staff from that time.
