I read on FB that the following 8 gogos are open in WS:

Dollhouse, Electric Blue, and Windmill on the side streets.
Fahrenheit, Palace, Atlantis, Tantra and Pin Up on the main street.

I'll check tonight but that seems about right m8, the thing is do you count 2 customers 3 dancers and intense

blue neon lights as open as is the case of CEB........It's dire........

Maybe dire but it's a start which hopefully will see better months ahead once more foot traffic is on the streets. I hope I will be able to do my bit by patronising many of the bars (mainly of friends) etc when in town.

Upwards and onwards and again thanks for the ongoing pictorial, it is most interesting and enlightening.

Sorry I thought the opening of bars was a good thing, not bad.

Of course there are less expats around but hopefully that will change in the months ahead.

I lost my job, my income last year but I always try to remain positive.

Tourism will return, we need it, Thailand needs it.

Well my comment was in reaction to some go gos opening.  Of course if they are opening with no girls and no customers then that is not good business but I presume they believe there may be some potential to be gained and in time hopefully that business will see more customers.

I read an article today that suggested some areas are getting busier, LK Metro doing better but again I suppose the present reliance is on locals. Maybe the fittest will survive, maybe those with wads of cash to waste will last but some businesses are opening while others close.

I remember when Pinatubo left Angeles City a dead zone, the place was covered in lahar and nearly every air con that was hanging on the outside of a hotel or building had been nicked.  There were those who sounded the death knell of the place but it rebounded and saw good times again.

There will be losers but sure the customers who do find their way to Thailand when it opens without quarantine will find places to enjoy themselves again but maybe they just won't be their favourite haunts.

Good post....But this is no garden variety natural disaster or financial panic...What's happening now is without president....So no telling what might happen......

And most expats are in their 60s and 70s....They only have so much party in them to keep the bars afloat...

with the new visa requirements being floated (the non-o insurance requirement) - it looks like it will be more difficult for the older guys to get back unless they choose a different visa route.

O-Boy more hoops at the worst possible time.....

im not sure its more hoops - its just an extension of the insurance requirements (if it comes in) - which may make it harder for older people (as costs are more prohibitively expensive)

Little update on this place..It's called..

It's gone red tonight on the outside...........

008a.jpg

By the name it used to be in this shed across the road......now closed and gutted......

003a.jpg

Pop in there the other night, they wanted 140 Baht for a bottle of beer I told them it

was a tad cheaper in Soi 6.....and then went and listened to a band for 40 Baht a bottle...lol....

Some people are dreamers.......but as I was departing the area a crew of what looked like Koreans

was warmly welcomed in there, perhaps regulars or the owners m8's.....

Just a question, just seen a group of seven young guys walking down LK on the irover cam, and in general there does appear to be quite a lot of foot traffic.

Are you actually escorted from the airport to your quarantine hotel or is it taken on trust? of course it can be checked if you fill in a location form but I`m having trouble believing some of these people have been in isolation.

Yes there will be changes, some that many of the older stalwarts may not like.

Its done. Not going back to what it was. Nothing is. Its a new world.

Main stream Media, social media all to blame for the change. But..if you had bought FB shares when they listed youd be up a shed load

Smart money will be looking forward.

Maybe vaccine requirements will help. But insurance will be mandatory and I am not sure how newly arrived ex pats will be received.

Transport from the airport to your quarantine hotel is tightly controlled. And from what I've heard and read you're closely monitored at the hotel to ensure you don't leave before your 15 days are up.

You are escorted in a bus and have a police escort as well

Three Jomtien bars raided last night for having the wrong licences . Not sure what that is about. In court as we speak.
Also a well known LK bar was raided twice last week for open after hours and has been temporarily closed.
A very well known Walking St disco was raided last week and they received a very hefty fine. Again, late opening.

Hope so, another regular place for me to eat.

Yes, consistently good food, used to love sitting outside people watching.

Also done my fair share of waitresses from Pitinis, well, more than my fair share lol.
