I did the brats the way I like my wursts, boiled then quick-browned in a skillet with butter and onions. Was very good. Proper use of adequate tools. Pan handles to the left, stirring with right hand. Bravo ! Hahaha Ages I haven't had "choucroute" ! Good idea.
JPK
Breakfast in starbucks😂 what a Sad state of affairs for a breakfast. I’ve been in krabi 4 days and only had breakfast once in the hotel and it was like a plague of locusts with the chinese. Gf Is away for some thai food but I’m cutting down on the spicy food and got myself on the Imodium 😂

It starts with the store-bought white pickled stuff and ends up mellow and tasty. Very easy. Instead of the bacon drippings, I chop up and fry 3 strips of bacon. I also substitute beer for the cooking sherry. Comes very nice.

Beer or dry white wine (Alsace). Sherry is for very senior British ladies.

Who even has cooking sherry in the house? Feck me, just dump some wine in. BTW, my mother sometimes uses Chianti in this recipe, comes out different but still good. Rompho Ray
Christmas dinner: Shrimp cocktail (spicy cocktail sauce, with additional hot horseradish), chicken cutlets with broccoli and a side of spaghetti. Not homemade sauce, that's the next bridge to cross, but Newman's Own Sockaroonie, about the closest you can get. Was pretty damn good if I must say so. Pay no attention to the hardware, I'm still "camping" in the kitchen until I get my home office built.

Steamed rice also included but not photographed. We usually visit this restaurant about twice during each trip. Last night there was an error on the bill, an overcharge. The way we have always operated in restaurants is that my partner always settles the bill, albeit with my money. She obviously checks the bills probably more carefully than I would and spotted an item on the bill which we did not have. The conversation was all in Thai so I am not sure exactly what was said, but the incorrect item was removed and the bill settled for the correct amount. This was the only time that we have had an error there, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. I eat there last week, very nice environment and good food, they do decent oysters too which my company enjoyed. They do take a service charge automatically on the bill so no aditional tip required. I don't think it was burnt; I think it is some type of garnish on top. Once Namphet cut into the fish it was white and moist, with no sign of burning. It is a dish she has regularly so I will see if there is any variance next time she has it.
john luke
Dinner at Mai Thai. I was glad I booked a table as only one other table available when we arrived. Two glasses of Heineken, Cream of pumpkin soup, Salmon, vegetables (for some reason located directly under the salmon), roast duck served with rice. Cost was 1240 baht. They did have a Christmas menu but it was not to my taste. 2
