Zeb
The 9 o'clock NYE fireworks (the early ones) in the Harbour City aren't that far off - so getting in a few 'coldies' - as ones does 😋 Main midnight fireworks later. As a warm up though - 1
coxyhog
My builder mate spent the last year building a massive new house for himself in a gated estate not far from us & we went to his housewarming party last night.Loads of Thai women,Thai food & booze.I was OK on the beer until one of the women asked me to open a bottle of Bollinger for her. Then I noticed that nobody was drinking it so I ended up necking most of the bottle,I do love a drop of champers. From what little I remember I was OK until I hit the fresh air when my legs refused to operate.I woke up in the early hours lying at the foot of our stairs with some gravel rash to my knees & elbows. The missus must've driven home as her car is parked outside....she was nowhere near a pissed as me but she'd had a few. 1

tko
Watching the amateur fireworks going off through the glass door to the balcony in our bedroom. The professional show will start later down by the beach, and we'll have to invade the kid's bedrooms to see that from their windows. 1

I was on my way trucking down B.R. heading back to Soi 13. I noticed a band playing on the corner outside bar at Soi 7 (can't remember the name of the bar). I stopped for a moment and had a quick listen. The band sounded great, I was sober. I thought fcuk it I'm going to have a couple and then head back to the room early for some business related work on the computer and an early bedtime. The band (all Thai guys) was tremendous. Before I knew it I was grooving like there was no tomorrow. It had been a long time since I had seen that level of live musical quality. I ended up closing the place down. The type of spontaneous magic that just happens from time to time. When the stars are alinged just right and you are around a group or fine musicians knocking the house down, not much better. I hope I run into them again one day. It gets in your blood, and sure is a lot of fun if you let yourself get emershed in it. 3

tko
Helluva show. The city might be losing ground to the amateurs, though, because they went all in at midnight. 360 degree fireworks. Useless information: Americans write dates as mm/dd/yy. Yesterday was 123123. Edited December 31, 2023 by tko

I used to collect champagne, sold a load of it off but still have 2x bottles of Krug 1990, 2 x bottles of Dom 96 and a Dom 93. No idea what they're worth but the 96 DP was at £500 a bottle a few years ago. I bloody love it as well. Veuve Cliquot, laid down for 6 months to allow the buttery taste to come out, bloody delicious with a dozen oysters. It does creep up on you though. 4 hours ago, Stillearly said: Watching Zulu with Michael Caine ..." stop throwing those bloody spears at me" 🙂 Each time I watch that film, I'm fine until the end when Richard Burton starts reeling off the list of men awarded the VC, then I start choking up like a soppy idiot. 1

coxyhog
I think last night I drank the least alcohol on NYE since I was a schoolboy.Even in Saudi I managed to get some decent booze. After getting shitfaced the night before all I had was one can of lager with my Thai dinner.

Golfingboy
Have to lay my phone down FFS……played a lot of cards today. Free tourney for New Year’s had 2 steps, over half a million players got 22,000 spots in the final today, was not expecting much starting almost dead last. But I had a miracle run, for me anyway, and was an awesome learning experience. First place was about £35K, but I started with maybe 2% of where the leaders were so didn’t even dream of that. Anyway happy with my fast progress , bit more luck and I’ll have the key money for Secrets Chiang Mai soon…….Im looking for managers, doormen, accountants, PR, you name it…… Edited January 1 by Golfingboy

Cheers on this mate. It is something that I am very comfortable with. When those moments occur I just wipe them up. Take a big sigh and feel the next emotion that comes along. I think of that sort of along the lines of a good ejaculation. When it happens you let it loose, wipe up the spunk (although much easier clean up these days as the level of fluid content has reduced over the years) , put your knickers back on and get on with the next task in life.
Lemondropkid
Just picked my laundry from a little family run place in Phnom Pehn. Dropped it off in a large red Tops cloth shopping bag. It's of little value but useful for the dirty clothes and carrying laundry on trips. The lady owner said not to worry she'd return the bag with laundry. So in I go, there's my washing all wrapped in plastic but no carrier bag. I did a bag mime and she looked in a draw, but didn't have one. She then points and the washing and sure enough I can see a little bit of red buried in the centre of my washing. There sellotaped and stapled in, wrapped in plastic is the bag I wanted to carry to carry the washing home in🤤😀 Edited January 2 by Lemondropkid 2

Horizondave
Just received a nice package from my mate, a jar of D & L (Devos and Lemmens) mayonnaise. Friend was visiting his family in Antwerp, Belgium, over Christmas and brought me a jar of my favourite mayonnaise, goes so well on my chips. Always loved this brand, ever since having a cone of frites in Antwerp back in the mid 90s. 4
