Popular Post forcebwithu
Now recovering from yesterday's hash run. Really feeling my age this morning. It was hot out there, and an AQI of 159 didn't help. Trail location was the NW side of Khao Mai Keao. I confess to only doing 7 km of the 17 km trail. Really glad I bailed at the water stop. The last 9 km was brutal with the elevation gain. Three of our group of 50 hashers ended up puking on the steepest part. Of course the beers they drank earlier in the morning had nothing to do with that. The finish point was at what we call the Monk's Retreat off of Pallet Lane (local name for the soi due to the dozen or more shops that make wooden pallets). This stray dog followed the group the last 5 km of the trail. Smart dog too as he headed straight for the blocks of ice to cool down on. BTW, the blocks of ice and the bucket to the right that will later be filled with bags of tube ice are used to seat hash offenders while we mock them with real and made up stories. A few snaps from on trail. 5 1
maipenrai
Is it a figment of my imagination or do I actually see walkers in the one photo? I don't run for anything anymore other than the odd baht bus but I don't mind a good hike occasionally...

We walk the flat stretches and uphill parts. We only break into a run on the downhill parts. The FRB's (Front Running Bastards) were probably a km or more ahead of us when I took those pics. There's also a group of walkers that probably were about the same distance behind. You would do just fine walking the trails, and you wouldn't be walking alone.
Glasseye
After a shitty start (unecessarily) to my day.... My security guard friend gave these (fresh bananas grown in his garden) to me as a gift when I returned home. The smile on his face and the Beer Lao IPA I just cracked changed everything. Now all is again good with the World.

It all comes from within. As you have metioned, "I never signed up for this". One strength I have been able to hold onto and recognize within myself is that to do the same would eventually lead to hardship and heartbreak. I'm just not that strong anymore, and doing so would diminish my survivability rate. In other, words.... I've weighed out the benefit/cost of doing such a thing. No matter how I juggle the numbers it comes up not to be in my best interest. Continute to do your best though. I just know I'm not "cut out" for it. Everything I do is Ok as it it is for the benefit of my daughter's future. The wish would have been to be much younger, say in my 50s which would then give me many years back overseas to enjoy my later pension years in comfort doing what I want. Probably will start to have longer stays overseas once my daughter gets the keys to the door with the wife home at night but that will still be about 4 to 5 years. I think it is this wish to be overseas but unable to fulfil my desire, caught in limbo really but I have my health and that is a bonus. 1

Horizondave
On the way back from London to Neath today we were heading on the M4 through Cardiff and saw the Manchester United Team Coaches (2) traveling on the other side having come from the airport slip road. Found out that they did fly into Cardiff from Manchester. Kataleya was very excited, they were being escorted by 3 police motorbike outriders. Now if it had been Chelsea, I might have been excited as well lol. 1
Popular Post boydeste
Just home at nearly 4am. Came 3rd in a 9 ball competition today. Beaten twice my the same Indian guy that beat me earlier in the week. Found out he is the 2nd best amateur snooker player in India. Bandit handicap again, just for a change. Lol Real nice guy though! At least it paid for my after hours drinks. Edited January 28 by boydeste

Was always a pain in the ass, especially when we had to do "Big Blue".

I do not have any "respiratory" problems, and would not try this. I miss running outdoors for sure. Sadly, wifey misses it too....we both hate running on the treadmill...but have no choice. Sadly, you have to give up some things when living here year around right? Nice pics...We used to go over to a city called "Los Gatos" once a month or so and run in the hills...

If we are both still both breathing at that time we will have a party. I will supply the beer. You can cook up some Mexican. We'll put on some good tunes and "kick back".

maipenrai
Good day today - went out for brekkie on Soi Buakhow and a couple of beer in Soi New Plaza, then back to the condo to pick up yesterday's laundry. Then it was off across 3rd Rd to Soi Bong Kot and Canterbury Tales to exchange some books - said hello to Dave there, always a pleasure and happy to see him still holding court. On the way back I just had to make a side trip to Babylon where I met two lovely girls and treated them to a couple of drinks; then back across 3rd to Amon's where I did the same silly thing...then off to Hemingway's for a daily special and home to veg out for a while...contemplating going out later for a prowl... 4

maipenrai
Well, dumb ass me just couldn't stay home and behave myself so out I went - I walked all the way from Central Festival to Walking St, checked out the talent at the Coconut Bar on the way - got one LINE address for a sweet black girl from an exotic location whom I will be contacting later; stopped into the Beer Garden for a quick pint, and then continued onto Fahrenheit and met a totally charming little stunner whom I bought two drinks for - she told me her BF was 2500b, choke gasp - and price for ST was 4K although she said she'd do for me for 3K - sorry, darling - still beyond my interest or budget - but oh, what a gorgeous girl; from there, went to LePub to say hello to Phil - of course, ran into girls there whom I have known for years so it was more lady drinks, 555...then out to the baht bus, grabbed some street food and home - have a matinee organized for tomorrow afternoon so didn't bother looking for a girl tonight - feeling like a real holiday now after a somewhat rough start. 6 1

Popular Post galenkia
Just got back from the hospice Jan was staying at. Went there to make a large donation in her memory. It’s partly funded by the NHS, but is very reliant on donations to offer the level of care they need to. It’s been really hard for me since she passed, having to spend time in hospital because I fell apart mentally, but I feel so much better now, and I think this will help give me some sort of comfort in knowing the money will help others get the same great care that Jan got. Gonna miss the nurses and staff, they were just brilliant, and hopefully I can now move on in my life. I am gonna start looking for a job, not that I need the money, but more for the social interaction side of things and gets me out of the house. The way I look at it, February 1st is going to be the start of 2024 for me, as January was just a very difficult time for me. 3 1
