Magical for young children 👍

It is yea.

My missus has a Thai friend here who told her children there is no Santa, it's their parents who give them the presents.

Not for me, i remember Christmas as a magical, exciting time. I want my daughter to experience that same magical Christmas feeling.

My belief in Santa went down hill when I got up one Xmas morning and mum was still trying to put my Action Man helicopter together. 😀

It has just gotta suck big time ...

Apart from the gym closing, doesn't really have a big impact on our lives.

Neither of us drink alcohol, and my wife loves cooking, can get take away for a change if we want.

I suspect schools will open later in January that planned, though happy my 4 year old in only in Reception Class, kinda half/half, nursery and first year, so not missing out too much re learning, moreso social interaction. But i can and do work from home, so more family time.

Just watching Flight Radar checking the path of Porn's flight back to the UK. She called me from the plane letting me know she boarded and all was well.

Don't know why but with this Tier 4 upgrade in London my brain started thinking that Thai would cancel her flight. I suppose after 7 weeks away and desire for a family Christmas I was being paranoid.

Still I will be at Heathrow this evening to pick her up. We are in Tier 4 in Wales but still allowed to travel to Heathrow to pick family up.

Just got up, having coffee and catching up with latest News. Strange feeling this morning of gloom, even though the sun is shining. Few cars on the road, and everything seems to be remarkably quiet.  I should imagine it will stay like that for the next few weeks. I may engage in some light housework to pass the day 😊oh well, another day of the same. I did a big shop yesterday and at least my drinks cupboard is full,

Up in the middle of the night again, these short winter days are wreaking havoc with my normal daily rhythms; I go to bed  tired and sleep two or three hours and then I pop wide awake. I'll return to bed after three or four hours and then sleep later than I really want to in the morning, especially if I have early morning shopping planned - the only time to do it this time of year with the Xmas frenzy going on. Thankfully I have very few commitments otherwise and can pretty well do whatever I want with my time, and tomorrow is the shortest day of the year so we can start to gain daylight again, even though it won't be very noticeable for the first month or so...bring on 2021.

^^^^^  Bro .. I have woken up every day since I can remember at 4 o'clock sharp every morning ... even if I go to bed at 3:30 am ....

I take every day on full steam ahead ... even though I have severe hang-overs sometimes .. but, that doesn't ever seem to stop me .. may slow me down a little bit ....

For me .. I have never needed much sleep .. I am pretty hyper

I got up one Christmas morning to an empty box under the tree.  Mum told me it was an Action Man Deserter.

Supermarket shopping.  No queues, no apparent shortages of goods, no evidence of panic buying.

I was at my local supermarket just after 7.30 am today, as I am every Monday. It has been a good time to go there previously - maybe only a dozen of us in the store. Today was completely different.

Huge line of cars waiting to get a parking space, and about 60 people queueing for the shop.

We always let my daughter help put out the cookies and a brandy for Santa (f*ck hot chocolate), and after the kids went to sleep we'd lay a trail of gold and silver wrapped candy kisses from their beds to the tree, which had presents when they woke.  Always early.  Christmas is only day I enjoy getting up early since I retired.

She was nine when she and a couple of her same age cousins were playing around in the house before Christmas and discovered the stash of wrapped presents in my home office closet.  They came charging out yelling "Daddy is Santa" and the cover has been blown, since.

EDIT: She says it still feels magical to wake up to the trail of candy, so we still do that.
