Funny old day.

Need to go to London tomorrow because the NHS need Porn to have a 5 year check and she has only been in the UK for 2 years so we need a 'certificate of good standing/police check' from the Thai Embassy (actually police clearance department, Bangkok).

Thought it might be easy but nothing is straight forward when Thailand appears in the sentence.  After finding that any number called at the embassy just cuts you off Porn managed to find an email address that somebody replied on.  Apart from the many documents needed and photos etc Porn needs to have her fingerprints taken and this can only be done in London.

Got to be there before 1100 so leaving in the morning around 0430 (mainly to avoid early morning London bound traffic) and then parking the car at my brothers before taking the train into London.  I did enquire to the cost of the train from Neath to Paddington for 2 adults and 1 child for a day return and the cheapest price was £624 which is just unacceptable so car it will be.

Also today we had to get some photos done in Neath for Porn's check.  Found a proper photo shop so stood outside as said only 2 people inside at one time.  A woman came up and went in, I said something about queues but she carried on saying she was just delivering a coffee to the owner.  I stood there watching her deliver the coffee and proceed to have a good chat with the owner and the other 2 people in the shop.  I am watching through the window, the owner staring at me but not stopping her enjoyable chat.  Took me less than 30 seconds of bemusement to walk away with the view that after being closed for over 4 months you would think the owner would be desperate for business rather than a good old chat, strange world.  Good thing it suddenly dawned on me that the post office was 50 yards away and they, thankfully, had a photo booth.

Bed early tonight.

It's a fact that more than 75 of guitars in the world are never played and sit in lofts, garages, bedrooms all over the world and not being played. Mostly lower end guitars both electric and acoustic. Loads on the second hand market, more so than new guitars.

The young girl i bought the squier and amp from, had used it maybe 3 or 4 times only with her guitar teacher, once covid kicked in,teacher stopped giving lessons she stopped learning, perfect condition at well under half the price she had paid for them, now hanging up on the wall in uk,tho once im back itll get used again, blisters ect dont even notice, been playing since 14,couple of bands in the 90s was great, cant beat it.Keep on rockin in the free world !

LOL......Thanks for reminding me to NOT go back to the UK

Was shocked as normally there are good deals but this Covid has put more than the human body out of shape, it has really created some crazy business offerings..

Off to my local high Street to buy some clothes.

But if there are queues and people ignoring social distancing, then I shall turn around and head straight back home and wait a week or so till the shopping frenzy dies down a bit under bit since the April 12th stage one lock down easing. It's been a year since I have bought any new clobber. If and when I go to the pub, I don't want to turn up looking like a tramp 😊

As I rightly expected, it was a phuking nightmare. I walked past Primark and there was a, queue well over a 100 yards long, lol, for people wanting to buy cheap shit that will last one wash😁

River Island in the Mall was closed and Debenhams gone for good.

Marks & Spencers was more civilised and I picked  up a couple of pairs of jeans but they won't allow you ro try them on.

Plus loads of chavs and screaming kids littering the place and endless beggars pleading for change.

Some c+nt came up to me and asked me if I had a spare cigarette? What does that mean? Did he think that carried a spare cigarette just in case I ran out or they didn't work. 😁

I pointed out to him that he should have asked "can you spare me a cigarette kind Sir? ". Then told him that I did not smoke and he phucked off to hassle someone else.

Think I will stick to online shopping for a, while. So glad to get home and pour myself a glass of Vodka.

I just had my third visit from a plumber in a couple of weeks.

This time we found the correct leak and it's all fixed except for the hole in the dining room ceiling.

Got a guy coming in a couple of weeks to fill it in & sort the artex out.

I would dearly like to meet the plumber who did the building work on this house,we've been here for nearly 14 years now & I think average a leak every other year.Place was built in 1993.

I moved into my new build a couple of years ago , when I was doing the snagging I discovered that if you pressed the shower button water came out of the tap and visa versa, also he had crossed the pipes so hot was cold , you flushed the toilet and hot water came through ....  my Dad was a plumber so they're not all bad .. 😉

I use a company recommended by a mate who does new builds,he uses the same company for all his plumbing & I trust his judgement. It's amazing all the guys that I've come to know in the building trades from being wed to a Thai.

We just got back from our visit up-country and I'm happy to report the auto fish pond feeder did the job, they live.  We came back early (avoiding the traffic, yay!) because Daughter was signed up for the national English language competition.  Sadly on arrival we found out it and all other school activities have been cancelled due to the current covid outbreak.

The last time I visited the UK was over three years ago.

Whilst I was there I did some clothes shopping including a visit to Primark. Amongst other items I purchased four packs of boxer shorts in packs of three and have been wearing them in rotation ever since. They are still fine to wear having been washed countless times ever since. I also bought some T-Shirts because I liked the light weight material and they just go in the washing machine and never need ironing. They have certainly lasted well and continue to be worn from time to time. They were certainly "cheap" to use your words but "good value for money" would be more appropriate.

I detest clothes shopping so for many years I used to do most of that in Marks & Spencers because I knew they would always stock my size and I did not have to f**k about trying to find something to fit. Always included three new business suits in the January sales every year. When I became self employed I gave the whole lot to the local Oxfam shop and became the UK's most informal accountant. 🤣

The "Ox" book looks like a good read, let us know after you're done...

Sunday is my weigh in day on my low carb diet I started on 11th January. After a two week plateau I reached a milestone today having lost exactly 2 stone (12.7k) in real money. Took my blood pressure as well which was 121/68.

I am heading towards halfway in my very ambitious target of getting back to the weight I played football at for many years. I already have to tie the drawstring tight on my size "Jumbo" shorts otherwise they end up round my feet. 🤣

Congratulations Dan, doing well mate.

Bet you feel better being lighter now?, I know I do. My joints are so less achey now they ain't under as much pressure as before. Plus more energetic as well. Also it makes you feel good when you see the numbers on the scale dropping. Since I stopped drinking and eating better a couple of years ago, I have lost about 26 kilos, gone from 93 down to 67 kilos. I don't really exercise much either, just an hour or so walking at the weekend. It's just settling into a new routine really.

Keep it up mate.
