Blimey I just booked Mercure Val de Fontenay in Paris for May. I do use Accor group a lot as I get great airline discounts from them. Never had a problem yet, well so far. My favourite is the Pullman Khon Kaen, always stay there for a few days each trip.

Sorry they fcuked you over.

I've used them many times over the years - Mercure , Crown Plaza , Ibis , Sofitel - in Thailand , France , London and Brazil and have been very happy with the hotels .....but they have really annoyed me and caused me to spend many hours on calls , on hold and getting the paperwork together , they still have never got back to me regarding any of this ..

Similar reasons why I won't use Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines, both airlines came up incredibly short when they should have impressed me but their idea of customer service is appalling.

Many other businesses where I have been able to vote with my feet and wallet and walked on by.

Feeling pissed off as was informed today that my next gig has been cancelled, in fact the whole UK tour has been cancelled. Was meant to see Angels and Airwaves at Kentish Town Forum on March 18th. Proper gutted as they don't tour here very often. ☹️

I had tickets for Bob Mould  this month, that was cancelled and re-scheduled to June. Seems to be a fair few US acts cancelling at present. Is there some sort of insurance problem, can't still be COVID can  it??

Gutting either way though.

No reason stated, so will have to try and find out. Yeah, it is a gutter, had so many cancelled over the last couple of years.

Just ensuring there is nothing in the garden that can fly about after the area I live (Neath, South Wales) has been given a red weather warning (raised from amber) for tomorrow morning from 0700 - 1200.  We live 4 miles from the coast and the winds are expected anywhere between 60 up to 100 miles per hour. Eunice is going to be a strong storm for us and, thankfully, Kataleya's school has been closed tomorrow and Porn is not working.

My wife is unduly perturbed by all this and the fact that the warnings include risk to life, with substantial disruption to travel, energy supplies and possibly widespread damage to property and infrastructure, I think she may be surprised come the morning.

I have experienced typhoons (and super typhoons) when living in Puerta Galera, Philippines and they are not to be sneered at. Eunice may not be as potent but being prepared is a good option.

I am just worried that there may be damage to the house, we won't be venturing out.

I read the minimum speed of wind for a typhoon or hurricane is 74mph so it might be interesting tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for you and your family, and everyone down on the SW coast.

In the house is the best place to be tomorrow Dave, Wie starts work at 8am and would normally get the bus to work but I am on a late shift so will drive her to work. I start work at 11.30 am and my workplace is on a cliff top 100metres from the Bristol Channel.

After an unusually warm three weeks or so with little snow, I got a good start on clearing off my roof yesterday with the idea of finishing it today - however Mother Nature had other ideas and it has been snowing since before I got up today so maybe I'll just take advantage of cheap draft beer today at the pub instead:

Take care mate, at least I can bunker down in my home. Those roads may have a few problems in the mornings so drive safe.. I have tried to explain to Porn what could happen but she seems nonplussed. Hope she doesn't regret that. Just wondering if the early morning winds will wake up/scare Kataleya.

Seems to be a common problem with almost all airlines, at least from the information I have been relative to over the past few years (especially during the covid years).

My take on this (for what it is worth).... Most of these airlines are using archaic software. That common software is tied into intertwined systems that creates even more delays. Throw in the unusual complexities regarding unforeseen changes and challenges that the airlines (and related software) are not accustomed to), then we have a giant kerfuffle (delays in refunds etc.).

The bottom line.... we became accustomed in the past to issues (cancellations, etc.) being addressed in a relatively reasonable timeframe. But now it appears to be total f**k up. In reality, I believe most issues such as delays on refunds are and will be rectified --- but they just take much longer than what we were accustomed to in the past.

Stay safe up there buddy. A fall from there at our age could do you in. They wouldn't find your stiff body until the thaws and buzzin flies... maybe sometime in late May,...

0500 - waiting for these winds. Not a peep at present here in Bristol…. Will report back later

I like this wind map (link) for the visualization it gives of the winds. Looks like the low pressure area is currently still a good distance off shore, that is if it's showing current conditions. Moving the time scale forward it looks like you'll have a good blow (pun intended) later this afternoon.

On a positive note, it's showing Bristol as "good" for pollution levels.

Good luck mate!

If anything of value blows away it may end up in either of my sons' backyard in Wiltshire so don't tie it down too securely!

See that big blue arrow just noth of the IoW?

The would be where I am, if I wasnt in a warmer place. Whilst the strongest winds are at a similar time to high tide, fortunately it's not a huge tide...

Some friends are popping round this evening to check for tiles...

Marching down to the breakfast buffet wearing my Rangers polo, throwing Hans and Wolfgang straight outta the queue for the toaster with a look of derision!

While Celtic got thumped 3-1 at home by the cast of Lord of the Rings who hadn't played a competitive game since mid Dec 😆

I am currently waiting for the Premier League news conferences to start/finish to guide me towards choosing my FPL team.

As always I have a backup plan. I'm gonna WC, get the cat drunk on my home brew, then get him to walk over my keyboard until enough players have been selected !!

Great life your cat has.
