I get my reading glasses from Poundland🤣

I think non prescription reading glasses if both eyes are about the same.  If one is significantly different then as I understand it there could be problems.

Yes, my right eye has a different capability to the left eye hence the best solution to buy correct prescription glasses. I had a proper eye test as well which was very thorough, something that I don't think Poundland offers presently lol.

Bought a few pairs of fold up ones from street stalls in Patts , easy to put in your pocket to read menus .. and if you break / lose , no problem

I used to wear those plonkers when my vision first started going. Then I found that I could only last a short time before I got eye fatigue and headaches. I finally went in had an eye exam, got prescription... I've never looked back since and now go in for an eye exam every year. Life is much better with them. I never forget them anywhere and keep the old pairs for back up.

I just had my most recent exam a few days ago. Didn't cost me a dime as insurance covered it. I will take the Rx with me when I return to LOS. I will use the Rx to order a pair from a place where I can get a good price (probably saving me at least 2 or $300). I will buy them at a place that offers a return if they aren't proper, or at least give a new corrected pair if I can't make the adjustment.

Highly recommend getting exam, Rx and prescription. Not only for being able to see better, but much more comfortable. Also important to have your eyes checked regularly for things like glaucoma, etc. They can pick up a lot of issues that may not be discovered otherwise.

I get an regular test ... I was originally-6 and couldn't see anything...then had LASIK in 2004 , had perfect vision for about ten years .. then started to need help with reading ( no issue with driving and distance) am currently +2  , so happy to use cheap specs to read a menu when required

I will be seriously looking into Lasik at some point in the near future.

Been for an eye test today, hadn't been for 4 years due Covid etc,.

Anyhow pleased that I have 20/20 vision for distance and only needed new glasses for reading.

Cost £10 for special OCT test (Optical coherence tomography) which is a new test I hadn't had before. Supposedly can detect issues up to 4 years before they would normally be detected.

Happy with £29.50 for 2 pairs of reading glasses, didn't need anything fancy.

The modern marvels of eye care are absolutely amazing when you think about it.

My eye doc referred me to a couple of specialist who do that surgery. He advised you first have to get an assessment (free) before before they can determine if I am ok for the surgery. I hope to get that done before I head back. But if not I think I will be able to find a competent eye surgeon in CM to check me over.

I have 1.5 and they seem fine. Only need them for fairly small print.

About 33% of the population has astigmatism in one or both eyes. I have it in one and is the main reason why off the shelf, non-Rx reading glasses don't work well. The cheap, collapsible non-Rx glasses are still useful to carry in a pocket for times when I might want to read a menu or the small print on an item I'm thinking of buying.

Wait a few years, it'll get worse (or maybe not).... lol

It's a bitch getting old.

My biggest issue is the cooking instructions etc., written on tins, jars. Think the writing is smaller, probably also because so much info, data needs to be printed now to keep everyone happy. Luckily I know how most things need to be cooked but length of time, temperatures, mode of cooking is important so glasses are a must.

Just finished packing.

Off tomorrow to Spain returning for a nostalgic trip to my first ever overseas holiday on my first ever flight.

Weather forecast for my trip is sun every day and temperature of around 76f or maybe even hotter.

Meeting up after day four with the guy who sits next to me at the Hearts who goes every year with a large group of ex Scots Guards.

Just been checking my online banking app, and it's nice to see my first weeks salary go in (well 4 days as last week was a bank holiday). Nice to see the balance go up rather than down. Good to be back in the routine of working. On lates this week then earlies next week.

Much more too it than I thought and ways to save a ton of money. Not as easy as people may think. But there are big ways to save money. You have to do your homework though, and plan accordindly.

Watching the end of Eurovision.

No shame for the UK this time. Highest points in 20yrs. As expected the viewer points gave Ukraine the win, although personally I think their song was crap, along with most of them. UK aren't so hated as we used to be with 2nd place.

Went down my local music venue in town tonight,a 15 minute walk from my house. Had a couple of bands on. First up was RedheadUK who were a fairly straightforward rock band. Good songs. After them was Weird Boyfriend, who I would describe as a cross between Dire Straits and The Grateful Dead. Enjoyed their set.

Both bands have music on Spotify. 'Summer Days' by ReadheadUK and 'Walk in the Rain' by Weird Boyfriend were the pick of the tracks for me.
