  2. I have seen more lively morgues than Amazon Bar these last few weeks......Every time I go by zero customers.....I expect it to be closing sooner rather than later........ I dont get why the bar next door with the pictures of the Thai food seems to be doing pretty good.... The old R-con bars seem to be quite popular as homeless shelters.....

  3. Not sure if it's a one off a band playing outside ''The Local'' on Soi Buakhao... Looks like we're in the final days of this place, TV's and bar gear all stripped out but at least one defiant soul still there....lol....

  4. I read an interesting thing from one of the well-known and sensible mods on Thai Visa this morning, ubonjoe. Until recently, the only way you could re-enter Thailand if you met the criteria (marriage to a Thai or Thai children, etc.) was on an official repatriation flight. In the UK they are only allowing 60 farangs on each flight and there's a backlog of several thousand Brits wanting to return here, so even if you can meet the criteria and get all the paperwork and tests sorted out, still nothing will happen any time soon. The interesting thing is that they are now allowing people with the right paperwork and qualifications to fly here on scheduled Emirates flights from Dubai to Bangkok, no need to queue for a repatriation flight. If they allow a few other airlines to do this then a lot more of the "right sort of farang" should arrive here sooner rather than later. A small step in the right direction, maybe.

  7. Just found out how to turn my central heating on. Maybe a funny thing but other than at my old family home I have never had central heating in my previous houses before (mostly overseas with air con and 2 houses in UK had Dimplex storage heaters) so it was a bit of Googling to help me set it up. After having 2 heavy hail downpours today and a nip in the air I have finally got the central heating going. Nothing to do with the hall temperature gauge or the Honeywell digital thermostat in the airing cupboard but just a turn of the switch on the Vokera boiler to a new setting for water and heating. Google is your friend as the actual Vokera boiler image was available and all settings explained so I felt comfortable playing with it. Got Binlid and his lovely wife popping over for the weekend so it won't be just the beer that keeps us warm now that the radiators are heating up.

  8. Kinda, You can log into a UK Netflix account from Thailand but the content you see is Netflix Thailand, if you log in from Thailand but use a VPN you can access Netflix UK content which has more UK orientated programs. There is still loads to watch on the Thai version, I very rarely use the UK one.

  9. 2 days after going back to school, my little kid came home and gave me a stinking cold he’d obviously caught from a kid at school, bless him. 🤗 It was one of those real snotty, sneezy colds and I’ve only just about gotten over it, just a slight runny nose now. Got a call from my doctors surgery this morning, to tell me I’m booked in for my over 65 flu jab tomorrow at our local community hall. Normally, I go to a local school for it, where they have 5 doctors and 3 nurses jabbing away and they reckon to do 2K a day of all ages, but apparently this time around, only the “most vulnerable” are being given the flu jab first, with the rest being done in late October/November. My wife, who’s in her early 40’s, always gets her flu jab at the local Boots chemists, and it only takes 5 minutes of her day and our little son gets his jab at school. I have had the flu 15 years ago and it laid me up for almost 2 weeks with high fever and awful muscle aches etc,☹️ but since having a regular jab, I’ve not had it since. Have I been lucky for the last 15 years? Will having the jab give me 100% protection from flu, I doubt it, but it’s no inconvenience to get vaccinated, especially at my age and with my medical history. Plus, it’s free. 😀 Of course, if someone believes they are invincible, then good luck with that. 👍

  11. reckon, the main thing is how many people infected?how many fully regovered?personally I believe that deaths while tragic are not the main thing, survial is the most important heard last night that 99% of those that infected only have a very mild case. and 99.7% of the world population that have had the Wuhan Virus and survived. cause the looney left keep on about the deaths and not those who have survived the virus. think I heard that 83 is the average age of the dead worldwide goverments are not telling us how many died because of the virus,or have the virus along side of some other problem that would have killed them anyway. I understand in my case, either my heart or demetia is going to get me in the end,or could be the number 9 bus going up the high street. one way the other iam going to be brown bread. and if it happens to-morrow,i have had a good life, met some great blokes over the years and banged some beautiful women a couple of Playboy/Penthouse pussies of the month and even a miss Philippnes. only problem is I can only remember half of them, the blokes that was regular mongers in both PI and LOS,who have the craic and made a day go better by being in their company. and even the loons on this forum get me going when the hammer looks the best option,i log on here and what ever shit is floating around in my head is gone, and if I ever get back to Pattaya I will buy you all a beer yes a big bucket of beer and all the straws we need to go around May you all be in heaven a week before the devil knows your gone. May the rains fall gently on your fields. May you always have a few coins in your pocket for a pint. regards grayray

  13. Had a project near Rayong, so spend some weekends in Laem Mae Phim. There is small beach named Ao Khai, which has very few visitors. The locals tend to be at the huge Mae Phim beach. There are 3 or 4 hotels with a few sun loungers and a simple restaurant as well. They are keeping the beach spotless. Sand is like powder, the water clear and not a single rock or pebble in the water. A dream to swim in and as the slope is gentle, non swimmers can have a good time there as well. We had some drinks and snacks in the simple restaurant, I think their sun chairs/umbrella were free of charge or very cheap. From Pattaya it is a 2 hours drive. Can't wait to get back there. Beware: on my second visit I got bitten by sandflies.....so bring some mosquito repellent.

  16. Today is the first day I have thought to run the heating, so far I haven't, but suspect tonight may be different, looks to be the last of the summer weather with daytime temps dropping off into the teens. I have done alot of work unblocking the micro bore pipes so hopefully nothing else will go wrong, the boiler is quite old now so we will see.

  17. Before I came to Thailand for the first time I had a whole course of different jabs for all sorts of nasty things I might catch in Thailand. They were free on the NHS in Scotland. Being self employed I could not afford to be sick so I also had an annual flu jab. I had to pay for that at a private clinic in Edinburgh. I never quite understood why the Thai oriented jabs were free on the NHS but I had to go private and pay for a flu jab?

  25. Cliff, not read the whole thread but I remember you telling me you had True Visions via satellite. Shame, if you had it via internet (TrueID) you could have one of their streaming boxes that has Netflix built in. You would save money on the True bill as well. Thai Netflix does not need a VON and has everything with Thai subtitles, so the Mrs can watch with you. Or even better, just leave her watching Netflix and come down to Pattaya for a few drinks in the bar. *wink*

  28. It surprised me that you got buffering on Netflix with 100mbps fibre. Here in AC I only have 25mbps fibre but dont get buffering. I would be surprised if you can be registered on 2 accounts simultaneously. The UK one probably has better program choices anyway

  29. There's a big push right now for everyone in the US to get a flu shot. Historically, less than 50 percent of the population does. And, a flu shot (& supposedly a future Covid shot) is not a guarantee of 100 percent immunity for catching the disease. Masks are the way to go for the time being. According to the "experts" if everyone wears one for a few months it would all be over. Yet, as we know....

  30. Most of the scientific / medical publications, who we thought we could trust for publizing only scientific evidence have discredited themselves since the beginning of this hysteria. Remeber The Lancet forecasting 500,000 death in the UK, the story condemning strongly Chroloquine which they recently retracted admitting it was based on unverifiable / invented data ? Besides that, who you think are their big advertisers ? Big pharma of course. The US CDC, is completely taken over by politicians and big pharma. We expect politicians to lie, but now if we can't even trust scientifics and researchers, we should really worry. As Pr Raoult (head of Marseille top hospital) said "this will be remembered as the biggest medical science scandal of the century"

  31. Life is good ... it is what you make .. regardless of the ups and downs ..... and the bullshit .. f**k it .. live free and happy ( at least that is my attitude and nothing is going to stop me from doing ) We were in Patts a couple of weeks ago ... then we went back home in the South and then drove up to Koh Mook ( a beautiful pace ) .. stayed a couple of days .. Seems lately I have been back in BKK every week ...for a couple of days ... No road police road blocks taking your temperature ... very easy to get on a plane from Hat Yai to BKK .. Mask wearing ( in the deep South ) really doesn't exist ... in BKK .. so so ... social distancing in BKK .. a big joke Ziggy is back in school without the plastic "jail cells" ... Beach Gals flower store is rocking and rolling .. like usual ... it makes me laugh .. she has a "factory" .. I am serious We are happy and healthy .... Except the fish ... I go out in my long tail every morning when I am home in the South ( Ziggy usually comes with me ) and I can't ever get a bite .. WTF ....

  32. Yeah so everything went really well at the gym yesterday, 64 people max, only 19 guys there at 11:00am. Your session ends at 12:30pm, they clean for 30 minutes, very impressive to see, then they let me back in to finish up my routine.....all good. Will be back to my regular 3 days per week now. Just hope the local infections stay trending lower, then they said they can make some more improvements like opening the indoor pool, basketball etc. Was good to see my friend Karen again LOL!

  36. Just relaxing today, going to do little except a walk with Kataleya to Neath castle which is only 17 minutes away from our house. Yesterday I drove to London and back to hand keys to letting agent on previous property. Left at 6.30 am and back at 6.30 pm which included a drink with old friend near Heathrow, non alcoholic of course. 350 miles had taken its toll hence a bit of relaxation today. We have an abbey in Neath as well, loving it. So happy to have left Greater London behind....

  37. I completely agree here! Having a 30 day mandate eliminates a huge percentage of potential tourists right off the top and for the remaining ones, would ANY of them, especially a family, adhere to being basically ordered to remain within the confines to a room, or if allowed, a walk out to the "lovely garden to take in the variety of flowers" instead of endlessly clicking the remote in search of programming besides those dreadful soaps or music vids with sexy women cavorting about, reminding the guy what he is missing out on while being quarantined. Two weeks of that? No sir! I could just stay in my own house and save on having to pay airfare, among other expenses, for the privilege of doing the same 9,000 miles away. No lifting of the quarantine, then I ain't comin'!
