  1. Today I went and done my renewal for my retirement visa as it was due early next month and I had some free time. First up...headed to the Bank for letter to confirm funds in Bank. This took about an 1 hr at bank due to it being busy. Total cost here 200baht for all what was needed. Second up to a photo copy shop to get what I needed. ... Photo copy of front and second page of page of yellow book. Photo copy of pages used in passport along with a copy of departure card that is put in passport on arrival. Photo copy of bank book I signed all the pages here before heading off to Immigration. I already had a photo from last year so I did not need a new one that they stick on the application form. Total cost here...41baht. By now it was near Mid day so had lunch and then headed to Immigration getting there at 1:15pm 3rd up.....Arrived at 1:15pm and filled in some paperwork at front desk. Put this with all the other paperwork I had and along with passport handed it to Immigration Officer. He checked it.... said wait over there and you will be called. At 1:50pm called to another desk...photo taken for their computer...... over to the next desk......paid the princely sum of 1900baht...told my next report was 24 May 22 and out the door I went just before 2pm. All up total time at Immigration was approx 45 minutes along with good efficient service by the staff there. Total cost was 2141 baht and I am right to go for another year. cheers Add on for those interested...nothing was asked for of vaccination status or Insurance.

  2. Just the drug dealing then. It's a shock for a City boy like me that even the countryside isn't safe.

  4. @roomark@lazarus@Glasseye Thanks for the inputs gentlemen, would love if when we all get back to LOS, we could all meet for a week or so in Phuket. Let's face it, we are not getting any younger for sure ( speak for myself) but need a trip there. Last trip for me was Jan 2016, the final tour LOL! A few pics from that last adventure...have posted these before. Fun to look at while wifey is making breakfast 😆

  6. Would be good if we could meet up one year if we were around at the same time. Bangla on New Year's Eve 2021 was busy and almost felt normal. I'm real glad I went over to Thailand after so long away .I I had a few good laughs meeting up with @boydestetoo on a few nights down Bangla , he even had the decency to say goodbye on my last night 🤣😭 I could quiet easily have stayed till April I love being down there , Patong's changed over the years but Phuket is without doubt still my favourite place. 8. Stay safe. Looks like many are stocking up with petrol and heading for the Polish boarder. With international flights suspended, its going to be almost impossible to get back to UK unless you can get to a neighbouring country for the time being. Don't envy you. Hopefully, Russian troops will not try and take Kyiv, but who knows what the madman is planning. Keep us posted

  11. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/article-10547257/Tributes-pour-Wigan-Warriors-legend-Vaaiga-Tuigmala-passed-away-age-52.html I met him once after he'd played for Newcastle at Leicester. I stood and watched him make time and talk with a young lad who seemed over the moon that this superstar had made the time to talk with him. I waited until he'd finished talking and then went and asked him for his autograph, he gave me that and then we had a quick chat and Rob Andrew came and dragged him away as the team coach was leaving. The man came across as an absolute Gentleman and he's always been a firm favourite of mine. RIP Inga.

  14. As far as I know, no one on any of the Pattaya boards has ever met Changfai in person, so it's impossible to say what he is like in real life. But he certainly displayed extreme aggression in his posts on Secrets. I realize there's sometimes a fine and not always clear line between acceptable banter and insults, but Changfai placed himself on the wrong side of that line. There was nothing friendly or funny about his posts aimed at other members; his only intention was to hurt and insult in the hopes of disrupting the board and driving members away. Who knows why? Maybe he's a psycho loner IRL, but most likely it's because disrupting an Internet forum gives him a sense of power. On Secrets, he used to mercilessly stalk the BM who used the handle GoGoLover. It was pathetic. Mega-trolls like Changfai; Budapest Baggins (Pattaya's most evil-minded hobbit); and the Canadian whose hair is black always have numerous handles. Mostly they use them for lurking, but occasionally they'll allow the extra handles out from under their cyber bridges and onto the forums. Nowadays multi-handle trolls get caught by the Mods quickly if they start to post. But as long as they refrain from the type of comments that got them tossed off other boards, I don't see any harm in letting them lurk at the lowest board level. Changfai, Gabor! Evil

  24. May i ask which Immigration office you use Roo ??? I had a similar experience a couple of months ago at the Chaiyaphum Immigration, they were most obliging. Renewed my Retirement visa and registered my new address, plus they done my 90 day, even though it was not due for another 3 weeks, but as the chap said 'it will save me a 100klm trip in two/three weeks time, so may as well do it now'.

  29. Very sad indeed, brought back memories of that great song. My next door neighbour Bill Eyden played the drums on the recording of Whiter Shade Of Pale, got 15 guineas for the session but no royalties. This was many years ago when I was a nipper when I used to play outside with his son. His son sadly died in a motorbike accident aged 17, he needed blood but his mother, a Jehovah witness, refused and he died. Bill and his wife occasionally baby sat for me and my brother when my mother was at work..

  30. Just love that little Janis laugh at the end of the song. Dialing For Dollars San Francisco Bay Area: Pat McCormick (born c. 1933)[1] is a retired local television personality who worked for San Francisco's KGO-TV, and Oakland's, KTVU channel 2, where among many jobs he was the nightly news' weatherman, hosted the midday movie Dialing for Dollars program, and co-hosted the local edition of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon. Dialing for Dollars[edit] McCormick also hosted a show in the 1970s called Dialing for Dollars where random Bay Area people were called and asked to guess the "Count and the Amount". The "count" was used to determine which person would be called. The host would pick a slip of paper from a drum containing pages from local phone books sliced into convenient sizes. At the beginning of the show, the count was determined by spinning two wheels, one of which resulted in a number and the other in "top" or "bottom". If the count was, for instance, 3/top, the host would start at the top of the slip of phone book and count three numbers down from the top and call the resulting number. The "amount" was the amount of money to be won. It would start at $100 and increase by a fixed amount with every unsuccessful call. The calls were made during commercial breaks while the afternoon movie was being screened.

  35. Covid has a lot to answer for. It has brought about incredible R & D with regards to vaccines, delivery means, efficacy, timescales, demographic differences, mortality numbers and God knows what else. It has also demonstrated to current and successive governments the estimated level of public compliance, which groups are most likely to resist, demonstrate and which groups will follow instructions without question. It has allowed a draconian intrusion and removal of fundamental freedoms, some of which totally unnecessary (care home rules for example) .Moreover it has also demonstrated to which level a govt can call upon it's Police and law enforcement to uphold those rules, and the level of sanction they can visit upon offenders. For example: BLM protests in the UK. Very soft policing approach despite the rules in place. Racially sensitive. Sarah Everard protest in London. Tough approach, bully boy tactics and basically a throwback to how the Police operated during the Miners Strike. Almost, because "hysterical women". Fortunately, the piss useless muppet Cressida Dick has now left the Met, so hopefully even if her successor is half as competent as a performing monkey, he will therefore be twice as competent as her. But, I digress. I still believe that Covid was a weaponised version of that type of Virus. Deliberately weaponised, perhaps accidentally released, perhaps done on purpose. With my tin foil hat firmly covering my ears and eyes so as not to hear or see any reasonable argument against it, it remains my opinion after having spoken to some pretty clever people. The data, the virulence, the spread and the continuing mutation is priceless information to any Regime looking at how effective to make it's next biological weapon. Moreso, the time it took for how the various Govts reacted, and how far it had spread before they did so, and what the reaction was (remember Bojo and "Herd Immunity"? - "We'll have this virus beaten in 12 weeks"...yadayadayada..How long it took to spread and where it spread from and to. This is invaluable intelligence, absolute gold mine for the scientists and arguably a once in a lifetime chance to maybe pull a bit of a stunt and get away with it, relatively lightly. For a Political regime with an unenviable record on human rights and a self confessed aim of establishing another Chinese "Dynasty" as was however many thousand years ago, it seems a win win. No one will sanction them as they need the cheap stuff, no one will challenge them Militarily because the US simply does not have an appetite (despite the capability) for another punch up in SEA and no one will challenge them economically, simply because they can't (although keep an eye on India - Watch this space). Because after all, China seems to have done so, and gotten away with it, have they not?.
