  3. Danny you're not taking enough credit we all worked hard to make it work and we were successful or as much as we could be anyway until it's self-destructed by means that you have posted. But when I left the bar at night I had no trouble sleeping. I wasn't responsible for making sure people got paid or for making sure we had enough money to even open the doors the next day. I did not have to make sure maintenance got done or anything else. That all fell on your shoulders and you carried it as far as you could. As far as the decline after my leaving I put down to failure for promotion. I remember being told the bar will survive on its own The Forum won't have any effect on it one way or the other what a stupid comment. The Forum built that bar and made it what it was and to think you could just stop promoting it basically and it would survive and carry on was just silly. When I got arrested on that setup drummed up charge who is the guy that went around to ATMs draining their personal accounts to get enough money to pay bail it was you. If you hadn't been there I would have spent far more time in the gray bar Hotel before I would have been released. In the end there was nothing you could do because the people above you just didn't care anymore. You can't save a sinking ship when the captain is not concerned

  5. Not her but you’ve just reminded me of something that happened upstairs…… halfway through the deed I strained my groin….. absolute agony, reducing me to tears…… your girl then said she’d go and get me some ointment…. I offered to pay her thinking she was doing a runner! But she wouldn’t take any payment. About three hours later she returned, she’d gone all the way to Jomtien….. she then proceeded to massage the ointment in and wasn’t convinced I was better until she had made me come !!

  8. I had a fourth jab in July - free and easy so why not, and maybe it'll look better to whomever is checking when I travel again in December; I did catch Covid in late March but have been fine since, although I do have friends or acquaintances who have had it more than once now but with mild symptoms.

  11. A few observations from the trip. Singapore is generally more expensive that Thailand. No surprise and not new. We flew on Singapore Airlines, economy one way and business on the other. I do prefer the service on Singapore air to that on the low cost airlines; since I carry a fair amount of Camera equipment I am always mindful of having both check in luggage and carry on luggage. The big mistake I made was not purchasing a Singapore SIM card and looking back I do not know why I did not. I have heard it said many time that it is not necessary to have a local SIM card, because there is WIFI everywhere. Whilst that is true, there is no WIFI generally out in the open and Apple Maps and Siri both require an internet connection to function fully. It was frustrating to know that we were near a location but I did not have a clue whether it was to the left or right. Incidentally the vast majority of people in Singapore spoke English so no real problem getting directions. I know Singapore reasonably well and using the MRT was great. It was not necessary to get a taxi at all and during this trip we did not do any of the organised tours. Singapore is not as fully open post Covid as other places. There is a lot of building development and refurbishment still ongoing and particularly noticeable on Sentosa that a lot of places are not open or in the process of refurbishment. Many of the organised tours were only running one day per week; pre covid they were daily. Singapore MRT do a three day unlimited pass for 30 Singapore $; 10$ of which is refundable when you hand in the plastic card at the end of your trip. Card is renewable for 20$ for three days. It is important to buy this at the MRT ticket office. In the airport they sell a similar product but $38 dollars for three days and no refund when the card it handed in. Humidity seems higher in Singapore than Thailand. My lenses immediately on going out steamed up with condensation on the external surfaces; it was just a case of wait for the condensation to evaporate. (My cameras and lenses are weather sealed. Changi is a massive airport and took us a few minutes to work out how to get from the MRT station to departures. Check out in hotels seems to be getting earlier. It was 1100 hours. Covid and room cleaning is blamed for this, however it does not seem that long ago since check out was between noon and 1400. Food Courts in the shopping malls were very good and cheap. Menu tended to be cross Asia rather than International. Typical meal with soup and main course plus item of fruit around or less than $9 Singapore. A lot of the food is preprepared and kept warm; I avoid these and go for food that is cooked to order.

  12. I've had 3 jabs, just recently had covid for the second time, different variant and it hit me in different ways than the original Delta one did. The Delta was much more severe by way of symptoms, I "lost" 2-3 days where I have not much memory other than in my waking hours, watching the clock tick by hoping that I'm getting better rather than any worse. This variant "BA5" the symptoms were relatively light, but they seem to be longer lasting and create longer term muscle fatigue and tiredness with more "cold like" effects rather than the full blown flu. Ultimately, I believe the jabs reduced the symptoms of BA5 somewhat. If someone had offered me the same for the Delta back then, then I'd have snapped it up immediately. the thing I noticed most about BA5 is that one doesn't just "snap out of it" over a period of 3 days like Delta, recovery is much slower and more gradual, but taking Vitamin C, keeping hydrated etc did help, but consider tnat it may have been a placebo effect though. I'll go for a fourth booster if offered. If, by chance a "worse" variant emerges then IMO some protection is better than none.

  16. Haydn was a former poker playing buddy of Ben's. Basically a lovely guy but a couple of aces short of a full house. He was perfect for a bully like Ben and he ( Ben) treated Haydn like shite. The day Haydn left he presented me with his prized possession being a "silver" teapot he kept upstairs in his room. 😄 By the time Larry left, Secrets was in terminal decline thanks to Ben basically ignoring his shareholders and using the company bank account as his own to fund his world wide poker addiction. Secrets was very fortunate to have had both Larry and Mr Egg as the face of Secrets to the majority of customers. Both were my work colleagues and friends and we all did our best to keep the success story that was Secrets ongoing. It got so bad in the end that Phil and I were always the last members of staff to be paid and I was having to make up the daily floats from my own funds. I resigned when Ben returned from a Poker trip and I could not get a guarantee that Ben had the funds to pay the Thai staff wages. At the time maybe a third of regular expenses were overdue. Water under the bridge but so sad because when it was good it really was good. So many loyal staff that he simply did not deserve. Addictions come in many forms but can be equally destructive.

  23. there are 2 movies of this event this one and another called The Cave rescue. Then there is the National Geographic documentary that came out first and IMO far and away the best of the 3 as all the footage is of the actual event. No actors just the real life guys that got the kids out. it is brilliantIf you do a torrent search for The Rescue it is out there.

  29. as the inventor or LEVEL 8 in the shh forum, which drove others mad with jealousy, in fact caused serious ructions, I can honestly say that the ealry days of shh were brilliant. 1.. ben was rarely there, 2.. Lawrence the rat lover was an excellent host and 3.. the gents I sat with were brilliant company. as a quite green newbie, I owe a lot to Robbie who put me right on so many issues, but there were others too. and the girls, well Nuff said.. kept us all happy. remember the scorpion lady, ex from ripleys, who was very popular and of course Poo, who had lips like Mick jager Sundays were obligatory and Gods waiting room with the old men, and Clive, was a great corner

  30. I'm back living in England now, in Leicestershire. The big thing I noticed when I came back was the size of the women, they are humongous now and obese seems to be the new sexy. Now we've had a few days of decent weather these obese specimens are sadly flashing more flesh and the lousy tattoo craze is alive and kicking here too. I'm with you and the sight of a fit as fook thai girl sporting those awful tatts is a real turn off for me. I can't see how anyone can think they look good ? Back on topic now, I loved Secrets but for me once Larry left it was never the same, Haydn was it ? was a joke and although all seem to love him I never found Mr Egg to be even close to being as good as Larry was. And don't start me on Ben, lowlife tosser !

  32. For me it's a close one, but I'm torn between with The Who live in leeds and Judas Priest Unleashed in the East. If it really comes to it, then maybe it's marginally The Who as it wasn't as studio enhanced as much as Unleashed was. Then again, The Stones in 75 is bloody epic. Got a headache now. Damn my indecision.

  35. Ill probably have it, but doubt it will be until I return home from Thailand. I have had the others, so one more wont hurt, I guess. There is bound to be a spike of Covid around Xmas time and the winter months. The infection rate has dropped considerably over the last 4 weeks in UK, maybe because more people are spending time outdoors and have windows open due to the heat, who knows?

  44. Always visited when it was open and I was in town. Larry was a good operator but I never had a problem with Egg...Hayden... or even Ben for that matter. On Ben if he was in the bar when I was there ...would always come up and say hello and then leave you alone. I must admit I did not go into Secrets to talk with the owner or managers...they were at the bottom of the list for a reason to visit. I went for the cold beer and the girls. Beer was always cold...a good line up of girls...in fact I would say at a time they had the best line up in Patts. I use to like visiting when the day shift was on.... their line was terrific...in fact I reckon that the day shift at times outshone the night shift..... some nice ones worked the day shift indeed. cheers
