Traffic jam on Mt. Everest taken 22 May.

Climber Nirmal Purja posted a picture on Instagram of the heavy human traffic on the mountain Wednesday, showing a dense trail of climbers huddling on an exposed ridge to the summit. He added that there were roughly 320 people in the queue to the top of the mountain in an area known as the "death zone."

I think I read a few days ago, that one has already died trying to summit this year so far. He was a Dr here in America with a wife and 4 kids I believe.

Takes some real balls to want to do this.....would not be for me.

Read earlier they had issued 381 climbing permits for this spring at £8600 each,so a nice earner, plus the money the sherpa's earn, other expenses etc.

One of the comments was 'It used to be for experienced climbers only, now its just another holiday experience'.

Plus the amount of rubbish left behind is turning it in to a shithole.

Went (walked) on the slopes on an slowly erupting one in La Réunion island (Indian Ocean) with lava slowly moving around 100 m away....  But I was a bit younger than now .

Just to take some pictures (slides) . FFS, and nowadays I criticize the selfie maniacs....  hahahaha

That last pic looks like an excuse to take as much $$ of the climbers as is possible.

Too many 'extreme holidayer's' being given permits to climb rather than being limited to experienced climbers.

All about the $$$$.
