My mum's 92nd birthday today so we're taking her for a pub lunch.

This made me catch my breath! Too many good memories of my Mum!

I hope everybody has a wonderful time!

One word of advice ...... Follow her to the toilets and make sure her skirt isn't tucked inside her knickers at the back when she comes out ...!!

I miss my Mum and all the laughs we had together !

Enjoy!

I had mine yesterday.

In Scotland one gets moderna to augment the two previous AZ vaccinations.

I am laying on the sofa because I am too tired to attempt anything else. I was like this the day following my first AZ jag although not the second.

I just phoned my daughter who also had her booster jag yesterday and she feels the same.

I had viagra Pfizer all 3 times. Just a slight pain in the muscle where it was injected, if it goes like the previous  injections it will be gone within a day or two.

The BIB closed Soi Bangla at 11pm tonight , because of some bar taking the piss the night before...

Even the usuals couldn't stay open .

Can see them sweeping the Rd in the background they do a march and close absolutely everywhere.

Kind of like Chiang Mai in normal times. Seems like at 12 midnight the shutters slam tight and everyone is hunkered down tying to avoid the curse of The Werewolf.

lol.... I love how she drags that Great Dane with her in the first scene when she goes off too bed.

It's kind of weird, because the bars get mixed messages as to when they can open until, so now they just wait until the blue and red lights turn up.

The BIB have always been a bit like that in Patong .. seen them do that even in normal times , a friend who managed a bar suggested it was usually when donations where due to be discussed to show who is in charge

Well, the deputy said bars could open to after midnight until New year, then the Governor said today its 11pm. Seem a bit silly to me, but when did logic apply to what they do.

Since you mention this, the fog is beginning to clear a bit.

As I recall... way back in the day when I first visited LOS it was Phuket (one time for about 10 days, because after that I couldn't stand the place. But, that was over 20 years ago). I met an American bar owner on one of the side Soi's of Bangla.

I was very green at the time, but I remember him explaining how his (er, his wife's) was able to stay open late and others closed up.

He said he got to know an official (er, I can slightly recall something about the guy wore a brown shirt). He said he gave the guy a bottle of Johnnie Walker and an expensive pair of cowboy boots. He gave them to a guy at a big party and made the guy look real good.

That is fucking cold man. Got to watch it (as I'm sure you know). Our lungs aren't what they used to be at our age. You can actually freeze your lungs causing you to basically drown in your own blood.

That's why I was so concerned when Covid hit, having high b.p. and not great lungs (also a smoker).... I thought "f**k me' I am not a very good candidate for surviving that shit.

Actually, -20C isn't bad if it's not too windy and you are properly dressed and moving around - I just get cold on the machine because I am only moving my arms and head and the rest of my body gets stiff just sitting there. Now -40 is "fucking cold" and one doesn't want to be outside any longer than necessary. As for freezing your lungs, you'd have to be doing something really strenuous and gasping for air in temperatures of -40 or lower for this to happen - I worked for years outside in cold temperatures, including climbing tall steel towers, and never had any problem with this.

As I figured... you would know.

I've worked outside in some cold assed weather myself. But nothing like what you have endured.

It must take you a while to adjust when you go to LOS. Man... what a difference.

Yes, it does keep one occupied but it gets a little tedious when you get dump after dump like this - wouldn't be so bad if the snowfalls were spread out a little more. It would be nice to have a heated cab on the tractor - at these temperatures you get pretty cold and stiff after sitting on the machine for an hour or so and I generally won't go out on it if it is colder than -20C (-4F).

Suggest an electric heated vest. Had one, along with heated gloves for early and late season riding when I lived in Wisconsin.
