Just got back from taking my mum to hospital,I got a text yesterday evening(when I was in the pub)saying she'd had a blood test & they thought she had DVT.

Go to the DVT clinic the letter from the GP said,so I found it on their website & it looked pretty straightforward.

Except it may be called that on the website but at the hospital no fucker has heard of it because it's called the Ambulatory Unit.A very long walk especially for a 92yo with swollen feet(who refused my offer of getting a wheelchair).

3-6 Hour wait before she gets a scan & I can't stay with her.

I can see how so many people get Covid in hospital, there's no aircon & it's stifling, esp in the elevators.

Feeling used and bruised

Had my 3 monthly post cancer check up yesterday which involves inserting a camera tube up my nostril and down the back of my throat. Not pleasant normally, but the specialist I saw yesterday was rather brutal in his approach and I nearly passed out. I woke up this morning with what I assume is internal bruising and quite painful. I am sure it will pass, but hurts when I try and blow my nose. They normally stick some lubricant on the end of the tube, but he must have gone in dry.

Good news is that everything was clear again.

(I am sure that Butch will have a field day with this post just by changing one or two words 😂😂😂)

Just back from a 2 hour walk in  the Arunothai/Bongkot area.....

- I stocked up on Broad beans in Fever (69 baht for 500g v 110 in Friendship!).

- I bought a new baking tray with grill for my mini oven for 150 baht in a cheap charlie shop on Bongkot 8 (Beside Nirun). My plan was to go to the big shop behind Big C Marina tomorrow but f**k me how much cheaper would it have been...!!!??

So not much weight carried today but still a nice walk ...

Up at 6am today after my travel home, I held out for as long as I could, but eventually went to bed very early to recover.

Feel much better today and have sorted through 3 months of mail already. Now sorting through my washing. The bulk of which I did at a laundry in Bkk, so fairly easy relaxing day today.

Need to get myself back into a routine of eating healthy and exercise. Looks like I had run my freezer down before I left, so have limited stock of sausages and steaks etc. Hopefully put that right next week.

Waiting for my Indian meal to be cooked.  New place opened up that I can walk to. Given I am nearly a bottle of red down.

Fuckers haven't even started it yet, 30 minutes in.

Don't think I will be back.

I rarely eat "out" anymore mate. Just too many things that seem to go sideways.

The other day when out on my walk I got a hankering for a Whopper. Stopped by a Burger King that was on my route. f**k me, they were only taking drive throughs. What am I supposed to do.... sit on the curb to eat ?

So, I went to a near by Shake Shack. Decent burgers.... but a simple burger and small fries cost $9, without a drink. f**k that... I kept walking and went home. Cooked up a nice dinner along with my usual red.

First planned fishing trip in Europe is end of April, what I do from now until then is undecided at the moment. I need a few days to settle my mind, certainly don't like this shite weather here.

Just back from my morning walk....I knocked off 15 minutes from what would normally take me 3 hours....!!

I did really well on the outward journey mainly because I was singing a song in my head (and sometimes out loud I think) thinking of @galenkia"Drink up ye cider, drink up ye cider, for tonight we'll veggie be, VEGGIE BE!"

But by the final 30 minutes I was f***d!!! I was barely staggering along, scuffling like an old man FFS!!

Just put in a steak order to my local butchers and paid for my next years fishing permit on a lake.

The sun is shining so I am gong to take my first walk since being back and maybe pop into a pub to re aquaint myself with a proper pint of beer.

One of the joys of being back is popping into a pub for that lovely pint ...... doesn't make up for the freezing weather but small blessings ...

The nicer weather we're having down here sure makes it more tolerable. But I'd still give my left nut to be back in CM.

That's true, enjoying a few pints of Guinness too.

Had a couple of superb bottles of red since back which I always miss whilst away.

I've started to replace the remaining fluorescent light tubes in my home with LED bulbs from Amazon instead - I decided to keep the existing fixtures so just have to bypass the ballasts and wire the light sockets directly - very easy to do; however the new LED tubes are quite delicate and have to be handled carefully - what a difference once they are in, though.
