  1. Can’t believe this country. Just wheeled out that maggot Tony Blair on the BBC for his expert opinion on the Covid virus and exit strategy. This man should be standing trial for war crimes for the ridiculous wars he dragged the country through. I never want to see this bloke again unless he is in the dock in front of a judge and jury.

  5. If you want to get style, elegance, ethics you go to Hong Kong, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, people actually go to Pattaya because it is a cheap whorehouse, isn't that the reason you went there lol

  12. Hopefully the one positive thing to come out of all this death and horror is that people will appreciate the incredible job our amazing NHS staff do. You get footballers earning in a week what a nurse takes 10 years to earn. This world is truly f***d up.

  13. Piles of shoes stacked high outside the ward where Women give birth. In 2005 I sat outside waiting for my son to arrive. On about two occasions the nurses would appear with the newborn baby to give to the waiting fathers, trip over the pile of shoes and drop the babies. As Captain Kirk said to first officer Scot, "There's life down there Scotty, but not as we know it." I rest my case.

  18. You've not seen it in the south, but it's reality here in Pattaya. There are many news reports on the food distribution sites, and long lines of people waiting to get food. I've also seen it with my own eyes on my daily bike rides around Pattaya. There's probably a few in the lines that are not in need, but there are far more here that do need the handout.

  19. Why is Thailand not getting hit hard? Don't get me wrong, I don't want any country to get hit hard or hit at all if possible! But why? We were in Thailand most of January, lots of Chinese, then near the end of January, place was heaving with them, out hotel was packed, Chinese New Year. Always lots of travel back and forth from China anyway, and not just Chinese. Like the disaster in Italy, they're putting it down as started by two infected Chinese tourists. Yes I know, the Thai figures have to be taken with a large pinch of salt, whether deaths from Covid or infection rates, but even so. Is there any truth in the 'virus is subdued/killed by heat' rumours? Is it the amount of facemasks bring worn? Or why, what's going on? Think more die in London in a day than in Thailand for the whole duration so far.

  20. Up to you but we as a family are making sure our mum at 84 is not at undue risk and we can maintain contact in different ways and she is happy not to put herself out there at risk. I’d like my mum to be around for a few years yet and I’m sure your kids probably think the same about you......

  23. This is a great thing you are doing. My sister-in-law is giving food to hospital workers at a hospital located in a temple a bit south of Pattaya. We are giving her money each week for this. If she stops doing this I will start giving money to your cause. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/xi/vacancy/915968895 Why does the NHS need an environmental sustainability officer for? Load of nonsense. Less of these jobsworths and more frontline staff. Oh btw in case any of you were thinking of applying... 'We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are currently under-represented at NUH.' LOL

  27. I do agree that footballers earn an obscene amount of money but they've been scapegoated somewhat. There is plenty of fat to be trimmed from the NHS. We don't need diversity and inclusion managers, transgender children's services, and other useless twats. We need more frontline staff and we need to pay them well. A nurse should be on a minimum of 30k tax free.

  28. I lost my dad over the weekend. Though he was a prime candidate to catch the Corona virus, it wasn't from that. He died in his sleep from what I was told by my sister. He had suffered from a combination of several ailments that had plagued him the last years of his life and made his quality of life less than stellar. He enjoyed hearing of my travels over the years and a few stories gathered from many long drinking sessions among expat mates and fellow travelers, especially when in Pattaya. I bought him a beer mug from the Guinness brewery in Dublin when I took a tour and told him what an absolutely gorgeous country Ireland was and the people among the friendliest people on earth I had ever met. As he was half Irish, he would have loved having the chance to see it himself but never did. I think he lived somewhat vicariously through me and many times wish he could have enjoyed a pint with me during those moments. He was 78 and lived longer in retired life than do most men who had a career in law enforcement, for which I was grateful for that. I'm sad I wasn't there to tell him that I loved him and goodbye, but am comforted in knowing his suffering is no more. He will be with me in spirit from now on. I'll miss him deeply. RIP Dad.

  34. I am not trying to " bust you balls" or be rude to you ... But, I never believe shit posted on FB ... never ... When I see this with my own eyes ... I will believe ... and I have seen nothing like this anywhere in the South where I live ... life is going on pretty normal here .. except going into a restaurant to sit down and eat .... the 10PM curfew .... and the random thermometer check I am not saying some people don't need any help ... and if Beach gal asks me to help someone I certainly will ... then I know it is desperate .. but, until she asks I don't worry

  37. That's the obvious conclusion to draw, and indeed the medical bigwigs have admitted that it may be the case that the virus is circulating widely and they don't know about it because of their highly-targeted testing programme. However, the mayor of Pattaya has undertaken his own screening programme of volunteers from the highest-risk groups (like Immigration police, friends of known C19 victims, former bar workers, and so on) and will test 3,000 people to try and get an idea of how widely the virus is circulating undetected in Pattaya. So far they're around a third of the way through that programme (it's being done at the Pattaya field hospital, aka the Grand Bella Hotel, you can volunteer if you want) and to date they have found just one case, and that person was a friend of a previously known case. It's too early to be certain, but there's currently no proof that the virus is much more prevalent in Pattaya than is being reported. Given the number of foreigners that visited between November and February, especially the Chinese, if that's the case in Pattaya, then I find it hard to see why it would be greatly different up in the boondocks here. Yes, testing of hundreds of thousands of people all around the country is ideally needed but the government has said that's not going to happen, so limited, local programmes like this seem to be the best we can hope for. Add to that the anecdotal evidence from all around Thailand that there are no piles of bodies building up in makeshift morgues, indeed if anything hospitals are quieter than normal, and unless the virus is currently in the stage where it's silently infecting the population but not yet producing any symptoms, then I don't see any real evidence for mass-infection here. And don't forget, Thailand recorded its first case over three months ago on January 13th, the virus has had plenty of time to do its worst here.

  38. Well it's peanuts in the big scheme of things, when you consider the 5th largest economy in the world is agriculture driven and tourist driven. Seasonal and undocumented folks are filling those jobs and driving that part of the economy. We need them as we enter recovery.
