You're much too kind, trying to stay focused like all of us....being sheltered in place after 3 days is not so fun really. Yeah I know, we all have to do it. My other pal "Pham" texted me last night, wants to know if I can come over to her house and we can do some "pilates" together LOL!

Like all of you, I am on complete over load with all the media 24/7...I know it's necessary, but so many conflicting stories.

Ok so now even the younger people are coming downed testing positive in record numbers and half the patients in ER in France are under 50 for this when a few weeks ago it was just us old folks at most risk?

Ibuprofen is now not good when you have this particular fever? It may make it worse?

Got my first "scam" call last night at 7:00pm on the landline here at the house....could tell the Nigerian accent asking me to donate to this charity that is now going to help the people in Italy. I listened to his BS, told me if I gave him my credit card #, he would just charge $25 to this charity. I politely told him not a chance. Unbelievable.

I just shut it down this morning,as a result from some questions from health officials.Sorry buddy, you’re on your own.🙁🙁😢😢

Here's what lock down in Spain looks like -

YOUR HELP IS ESSENTIAL
What you can and cannot do, following the Spanish Government’s declaration of a State of Emergency, given the health crisis caused by COVID-19

CAN I GO OUT ONTO THE STREET?
For the duration of the State of Emergency you may only go out in public to carry out allowed activities, only if you are alone or accompanying a person with a disability, or who has mobility problems

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES THAT I MAY LEGALLY GO OUT IN PUBLIC TO DO?
Acquisition of food stuffs, going to the chemist for essential items
Going to a health centre
Going to the location of your job to work
Returning to your home/place of residence
Assisting and caring for elderly persons, children, dependent persons, persons with a disability or those who are especially vulnerable
For emergency reasons or in a situation of the utmost necessity
Any other activity of a similar nature you can justify

CAN I GO OUT IN MY CAR?
You can drive on public roads to carry out any of the activities referred to above or to fill your tank with petrol.

CAN I PLAY SPORT IN THE STREET?
No, playing sport on the streets doesn’t fall into any of the justified reasons to go out, even on your own.

CAN I MEET OTHER PEOPLE OUTSIDE/ON THE STREET?
No, you can go out on your own or accompanying someone with a disability or who has mobility problems but under no circumstances can you socialise on the streets.

CAN I GO TO THE BEACH OR TO A PARK WITH THE CHILDREN?
No, the beaches and other public spaces are closed. Furthermore the recommendation is that children remain at home.

CAN I VISIT A FAMILY MEMBER, A FRIEND, A NEIGHBOUR?
No, it isn’t recommended – this is how the virus can spread and these kinds of visits are not in the allowed list.

IF I AM A DEPENDENT PERSON OR HAVE DEPENDENT FAMILY MEMBERS, CAN MY FAMILY VISIT ME OR CAN I VISIT THEM TO ASSIST THEM?
Under these circumstances, yes, you are allowed to have a visitor or go to their house to give or receive the help you need

CAN I TAKE MY DOG OUT?
Yes, though only as long as you are respecting the protection and security measures now in place. You should walk the dog alone, and not use this as an excuse to go for a walk.

CAN I GO OUT TO BARS OR RESTAURANTS?
No, they are closed under the State of Emergency declared by the government.

ARE COMMERCIAL CENTRES OPEN?
No, only stores that are selling food, hygiene and cleaning products. Shops in commercial centres that are only selling these kinds of goods may open.

AND LIBRARIES, MUSEUMS, CIVIC AND CULTURAL CENTRES?
No, these are also closed

CAN I GO TO MASS OR ATTEND OTHER RELIGIOUS SERVICES?
Religious temples are also closed.

IF I NEED TO GO SHOPPING. ARE SUPERMARKETS AND FOOD SHOPS OPEN?
Yes, provision of food is considered an essential service, which is why you are permitted to go out to shop as long as you continue to follow the rules. Avoid crowds, keep a distance of one metre between you and any other person.

You may not eat food in shops. You may only stay in a shop for as long as is absolutely necessary for the acquisition of the food and essential items you need.

CAN I BUY ONLINE?
The decree allows for food to be send to a home and doesn’t restrict online commerce, or purchasing via the telephone or by post.

IN GENERAL, WHAT KIND OF SHOPS MAY OPEN?

I’M A JOURNALIST, CAN I GO OUT TO GATHER INFORMATION?

Yes, journalists may go out as part of their work, and continue to keep the wider population informed as to what is happening during this time of crisis.

📌 Municipal activities are suspended
📌The Citizens Attention service will continue to operate but via appointment only – call 922 756 200.

#I’mStayingAtHome

My sister and her husband got back from her apartment in Spain last night, after having several flights cancelled on days they were due to fly.

They were in a small village with a small grocery shop owned by a Chinese couple and a pharmacy.
Their British friend who lives there was  going to take them to the airport, but police informed him that if he did, he would be fined €600! But that it would be ok for a taxi to take them on the 30 minute journey.
How the feck does that work? Still only 3 people in the car!

Apparently, only a maximum of 2 foreigners are allowed in a car on their own, but 3 people (2 foreigners and 1 Spanish) is allowed. Whoever came up with that dumb rule must have some Thai blood swirling around their brain. 🙃

Live updates: Illinois, California, Florida and New York increase restrictions because of coronavirus

By Siobhán O'Grady

March 20, 2020 at 6:24 p.m. EDT

Restrictions are dramatically ramping up amid the growing coronavirus pandemic, with Illinois and its 13 million residents — 10 million in the Chicago area — the latest to join California by moving closer to an effective lockdown. Meantime, New York told nonessential workers to stay home, Florida closed restaurants, bars and gyms amid spring-break revelry, and the U.S.-Mexico border is closing to nonessential travel.

Here are some significant developments:

More than 250,000 cases have been confirmed across the globe. The World Health Organization noted that it took more than three months to reach 100,000 cases worldwide — but only 12 days to log the next 100,000. The number of deaths and confirmed cases continues to surge in Spain and Iran.

For a second consecutive day, China reported no new local infections. But concerns are growing about a new wave of imported cases elsewhere in the region: Hong Kong reported its biggest daily jump in cases Friday, including many that involved recent travel.

Italy announced another record-breaking death toll on Friday: 627, up from 427 the previous day. The country cited 9,600 people in one day for violating lockdown.

New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo ordered all workers in his state to stay home, except for those in essential services. The move came after California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered 40 million residents to remain at home.

Well my wife and little one are isolating at home for the foreseeable future, no school or work for them, me I am off to work tonight and my company may be not only delivering food through the night but might be taking on other services.  Interesting times, I am feeling fit to do it and intend on staying safe, just happy it was last summer that I had my heart operation, not so sure how things would have panned out had it been this year.

Not even thinking about travel to Thailand let alone anywhere, might even save some money.

Just about to board the 90 minute ferry from Vancouver island to Vancouver.

my boy lands at 7 am tomorrow morning,he just got on the flight.

S class ferry,and I’m counting 22 foot passengers.

It holds 2200 people and over 300 cars.

This time during the year, this boat would be full and another one would leave in an hour.

Empty.

In times like this, pissed though I am the phrase "east west home is best springs to mind"

as an ex pat i feel this acutely even though the paradox that things are even worse in the UK than here in OZ is confouding

the sense of who you are ,BRITISH,shines and drives your emotional impulse

Any way will keep calm and carry on

If you have a job and an income at present you are winning. All the 'i wouldn't get out of bed for less than 100 quid' boyos will be eating their words now.

Aye, he's always saying it, just right too, little cunts.

I wonder what Trump will do when it's pointed out that the H1N1 virus which caused the so called "swine flu" pandemic of 2009 originated in the US although identified in Mexico which is why it's PMD (pandemic mexican disease) and not PAD.

American swine flu.

And then of course, the 1918 H1N1 pandemic.

There have been statements that the epidemic originated in the United States. Historian Alfred W. Crosby stated in 2003 that the flu originated in Kansas, and popular author John Barry described Haskell County, Kansas, as the point of origin in his 2004 article. It has also been stated by historian Santiago Mata in 2017 that, by late 1917, there had already been a first wave of the epidemic in at least 14 US military camps.

So why is it called the Spanish Flu?

To maintain morale, World War I censors minimized early reports of illness and mortality in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. Papers were free to report the epidemic's effects in neutral Spain, such as the grave illness of King Alfonso XIII, and these stories created a false impression of Spain as especially hard hit. This gave rise to the pandemic's nickname, "Spanish flu". Historical and epidemiological data are inadequate to identify with certainty the pandemic's geographic origin.

When you copy and pasted the above from Wikipedia, which is not a reliable source to begin with , but nevertheless, you didn't include the part where it has also been speculated that the H1N1 of 1918 also originated in China. 2 historians theories and an author's article are far from fact.

Seems like you're arguing for the sake of it, just because you don't like Trump and his politics.  Is that really what you want to do in this thread?
