tommy dee
i often wonder how many tourists are the same here as at home. drink daily to excess, and get laid at every opportunity. my guess is that most cant or cant afford to at home and so save for their tank emptying here every year. but then wtf do they do the rest of the year? Obviously the SAS types resort to their undercover work, and the mllionaires are busy waiting for a giro,, but... I cant really see the average tourist sat in front of a gas fire watching corrie with a findus ready meal and a can of cheap co op beer. he must have a life on the other side of the water... OR am I wrong? I know 13 yrs ag I weighed the odds and decided that aging in the UK wasnt for me. but that was just me, and I moved here lock stock barrel and container and you? 1 2

I inherit the mentality of a 30 year old, when in Thailand. For me, it has always been a temporary escape, where there are less boundaries to hedonism. Even though over the years, I have become more cynical and perhaps less physically able, I still get a massive buzz when arriving at BKK and from then on. Some say that when you arrive, you have no history and some take that to an extreme by re inventing themselves with tales of life that they would have liked to have led, such as being ex SAS, millionaires etc, but I would never go as far as that and most cannot pull it off, because no one really gives a toss😁😁 I am a money on the table kind of guy. My life is pretty much OK in UK and I live comfortably but particularly during Covid, life did become more mundane than usual. I hope I still get the buzz on my next visit and can carry off being a 3 week ageing playboy 😁😁😁😁 with a it of cash in my back pocket I don't so much reinvent myself, but release that which has become dormant in my soul and recapture some of my youth. Being a "hansum man" for 3 weeks, was quite nice, but these days more likely to be addressed as "papa" 😁😁😁 8
Popular Post galenkia
When I was visiting Thailand on a regular basis it was my heavy drinking days. So drink wise probably just drank more and for longer as I didn't have to get up for work. Never been one for brassing at home,or going out on the pull as a regular thing. Most past girlfriends I met in normal daily situations. Enjoyed the Thai girls as it's on a plate, and used to be dirt cheap. Nowadays I don't really miss the sex side of Thailand, must be getting old.🤣 7 5

Popular Post Derek Dangleberries
I don't think acting differently on holiday in Thailand is any different to holidaying in Blackpool, Bournemouth, Barcelona or Benidorm and probably the locals/expats in those regions probably say the same thing about tourists too. Just let people do what they want to do on holiday (if it is legal!). They've probably been saving for it all bloody year. Khun Ling
I dont, at least I think I dont. But Someone whom I know well does. He transforms himself into some kind of gangster persona, sun glasses and lots of fake jewellery, even uses a different name. The last time we were both in Patts at the same time he avoided me 2
Popular Post forcebwithu
I'm definitely a different person, leading a different lifestyle compared to what I did, and would have done had I remained in the US. One big difference, besides the ready and willing supply of ladies to go with, is the amount of drinking I do here compared to when I was living in the US. Rarely, if ever do I have a drink on my return visits to the States, but here I'm out 4 or 5 times a week enjoying a drink or two or more. Fortunately I now stop well before the blind drunk stage which wasn't the case the first couple of years of living here. Took some time, but I'm glad I'm now out of the holiday mode where every night was a party night. 5 1
Golfingboy
All my trips were close together 10+ years ago, and I hope I’ve become a much more responsible drinker at 46 vs. 32. But absolutely it’s a different world/lifestyle and my behaviour was much different than back home, especially the drink I consumed. I think cost of living/entertainment is the main thing, most of us are much more responsible when vacationing in a place similar to home, versus all that cheap booze and pussy To be fair, I think if you DON’T go a little crazy your first few times in Pattaya…..something’s wrong 6

Nickrock
I'm me when I'm in Thailand or at home Only a few differences takes a few days to get the ingrained diesel out of my wrinkly hands lol and wake up at a normal time of many hours after sunrise, used to be a total night owl now I'm happy to be in my hotel before midnight .I do drink more in Thailand 4 or5 a night but may be 1-2 bottles a year at home ( but it not so hot , prefer coffee when its cool)

Freee!!
I don't really reinvent myself, I just partake more of the things I enjoy and which have become affordable, either in time (I can drink a bit more as I don't have to get up early) and/or money (like the ladies).
coxyhog
Back in the day,on vacation from the sand pit I used to go pretty wild but that was between the ages of 27 to 38 so I could handle it. Nowadays I'm on hols with the missus and although she gives me plenty of freedom by the time of my next trip in Sept I'll be 69 so a tad more sober.....hopefully😂.
Popular Post Horizondave
Depends whether I am solo or with family. With family we just enjoy ourselves as we would on any holiday and doing things families do. Solo I need a cold one as soon as I arrive into my hotel location (I don't drink much at home). I then shower, shave and smarten myself up to feel confident that I might pull, reality is I won't pull but I feel good about myself. I act more like a schoolboy because this is what I have observed over the years seems to get a smile from the girls, I otherwise could be a boring looking old git that gets ignored. In the UK I act my age. I spend my money which seems to have an effect that pulls girls towards me, even getting them to seemingly be interested in me although deep down I know they couldn't give a fcuk and are probably looking over my shoulder at the guy next to me. In the UK I budget and watch my money. I try to maintain a confident and happy disposition, difficult with most bar girls and their attitudes which seem to have reduced considerably since I first landed in the land of smiles but a positive attitude helps with my surroundings. In the UK I don't worry about people around me, are they even there. I don't buy toys and gifts for the girls in the bars. In the UK I buy Toys for my daughter because she is only 7. I buy flowers for my wife in the UK as she appreciates the gesture; I don't buy flowers for girls in Thailand as it means nothing and they can't eat them. Basically I holiday as if I am 30 years of age so it helps to avoid looking in mirrors for the reality check. Do I reinvent myself, possibly, but it is really my attitude that gets a makeover and that is only because if I acted my age and went to bed early there would be no fun in being solo in Thailand. You got to be part of the fun otherwise it will pass you by. 7
Lirchenfeld
I think on an average year 90% of my alcohol use is in Thailand. And I don't go to Thailand every year, and usually just drink 2 out of 3 days while there, and never before sun down. If I have more than 5 or 6 beers on a night, it is a lot. I don't need alcohol to say or do bizarre stuff. 🤣 Other than that I think i am pretty much myself. I mean, I pay people to work for me in both places, so I can be as lazy as possible - though, the jobs are different.

maipenrai
Well, the first few trips are always the best and I loved the anticipation of planning my next trip and watching the days go by until you get on that plane and go; I was in my mid-40s when I first visited Thailand and gave the whole experience my best for the first fifteen years or so but now that i am into my mid-60s I find that over the last two or three trips I've slowed down a lot and come to spend the time there more like an expat - I don't need to find a girl or get pissed every day anymore. I've always tended to stay out much later in Pattaya than at home when I do go out because it's so much more interesting and fun - here I am always home from happy hour by 7:00PM or so because I simply get bored, it costs too much and taxis are stupidly expensive - I love being able to get around cheaply and easily in Pattaya. But to answer the topic question, I don't think I ever really changed myself much in Pattaya from who I am at home other than being much more attentive to the ladies - I lost interest in any local relationships long ago, any women who would be interested in me at home would have to be within ten years of my age and are all carrying too much baggage from previous relationships, not to mention setting every gossip's tongue wagging as well - so much easier and more satisfying in Thailand. 1
