Mike56
For me it has been a small surprise so many bars open again. Still waiting to see what happens for the rest and if some bars need to shut again. Temporarily or permanently.

I honestly think that we will see lower rates than what we are now over the next few months, but I hope I'm wrong though. I think the baht will easily go into the low 40's over the next few months... 1

He stays at the Ritz just down the road and becomes the centre of attention within seconds as he regales everyone with his tales of Headhunting back in the day, having a few pints for his breakfast as is his wont. He's probably mellowed now he's knocking on for 60 but still has that aura of menace about him. Now the Dogs has folded he has lost his main reason for visiting Pattaya so might not be seen around town anymore but he was certainly recognised and greeted by many the last time I saw him which was sometime last autumn. I met him the day he arrived into the Philippines, he was heading away from the bars in Ermita when he stopped me and asked where the bars were. I turned him around and we headed to the bars where we carried on drinking together until late. Next day I met up with him and we headed to the Victory Liner station to head to Olongapo. I was already living there so showed him where Midnight Rambler was (Barrio Barretto), we caught up many times during my time there and also since although it is probably a year or go since I seen him. Certainly had a few stories as well as many of the lads he socialised with. Got a few photos of him socialising back in the early 90's Edited July 19, 2020 by Horizondave

Jambo
Just as an aside, not one of the bars or gogo's I have personally visited has any form of socially distancing in place. I am not complaining as I enjoy a touchy/feely night out on the piss. 😉 1 1

misteregg
Just been told by a certain well attired gentleman that Hooters has had a metal fence erected around it...I’m not well attired, but can confirm this.
misteregg
This looks more like a remodel than a closing.......Why put the wings poster up if your closing? But then I can hardly believe they would have the nerve to sink even more money into this seriously struggling Hooters......If they opened now it's pretty much guaranteed to be a money loser.. Most expats will not pay their prices....No expats= no customers.....Its just that simple..... Hooters isn’t struggling or wasn’t before Covid. Always busy.
misteregg
Having commenced our night out in Le Pub we decided to do a bit of a tour round starting at Doll House. On entering we doubled the number of customers which is not really surprising given the increasing number of venues and the static number of expats. My first overriding impression was surprise as all the girls on the stage were displaying their piss flaps but they did all have a full plastic face mask but just not covering their face. Having just paid my very reasonable bill at Le Pub I was interested to see what Doll House would charge me for my first ( and last ) Tiger light. The answer was 165 baht which I thought was outrageous considering they had just reopened and have a need to encourage customers. I added masochism to my financial pain through buying the nubile young lady exploring what was under my boxers an equally expensive LD. We did a couple more gogo's ending up in Ricky's having moved away from Walking Street. The girls are not the greatest but are very touchy/feely but again short sighted pricing structure on the drinks. Unless the gogo's realise that charging high prices for drinks will lose the expat customers to the bars then they will not be open very long. I was told that Soi 6 has a profusion of quality young debutants currently. I don't believe it for one minute but I might check it out if I happen to be passing. [emoji4] PS Checked out Soi 6 yesterday which is not normally my manor. It is absolutely rammed with pussy and I do mean rammed. Only a very limited number of potential customers . Reminds me of my first visit to Soi 7 back in 2003 when I thought I had found pussy heaven.[emoji5] Nice to see you Dan. Tiger Lite in Le Pub is 81฿ at the moment.
misteregg
About 12B above cost. Here's a link to the price list for a distributor we use for the Hash House Harrier runs. Edit to add: They'll have to sell a lot of beers at that price to cover overhead costs. There are quite a few wholesale deal on at the moment, on Heineken, Tiger and Chang, but these prices are not sustainable. Make a profit not a statement.
misteregg
The expats seem a fickle lot , 5 Baht more to drink at your regular bar ... outrageous...I was thinking the same. No loyalty in this town from some.

They went through a number of managers to try and right the listing Hooters ship..... Every April and May during the hottest months customers abandoned Hooters in mass because of the lack of air conditioning...... Then there was the road work on beach road that went on and on for a long time that killed the foot traffic to their business.......I walked past there many a time in the evening 7-8PM and there were like 3-4 customers... Expats shunned Hooters from day one.....And not much has changed......Without Tourist Hooters is not a gamble its a guaranteed loser......
