Popular Post SteveBC
I'm up country at the moment, not far from Chum Phae, been here now for a little over 2 months as we are having a small house built here. I'm returning to Pattaya on Friday for a few days to see the Mrs. , get my booster jab and pick up some supplies to bring back here. Now Mum has gathered together enough various veggies / chillies from her garden here to supply most of Pattaya for the next three months which i will take back for her dear Daughter. But said Daughter asked me to go and buy some Issan sausages from a particular shop not far from here, so this morning i duly went and got them. Aum said NOT to put them in the fridge, just hang them up in the breeze somewhere and wrap in any old paper when i take them to her in Pattaya. Well, they are now hung up outside the old shed here, it's far from the small guesthouse we built here about 6 months ago and i'm stopping in at the moment. Now, the problem is, i need to take these to Pattaya, but by Buddha do they stink !!! The stench of garlic makes me want to heave, i think i will have to hang them on the rear window wiper so as to escape the smell. I find it hard to understand how they do not go rotten / rancid just hanging up in direct sunlight for much of the day, But Aum assures me that's fine and they will be good !! Good for her maybe, but they are not going inside our rental house in Pattaya whilst i'm there. I know many of you chaps, from reading the above posts in this topic, that you like garlic. Well i'm the opposite and hate the bastard stuff with a passion, the stench and taste i both find most horrible. I'm not allergic to it, i love Thai curries and the paste that most use to make them is maybe 25 / 35% garlic, but you can't taste or smell it as such, no problem. I have no idea how much garlic is in these sausages, but it must be a bloody lot !! 8

I haven't had any really bad experiences myself with fires or burns from boiling oil, but I known some who have and it makes me very cautious. I even got used to eating raw cloves of garlic whilst working in Northern PRC during winter. BUT! I detest Isaan sausage. It is up there with Chinese "sea cucumber" and African fufu as things I really don't want to eat.Anytime.Anywhere. It isn't the garlic. It isn't the chillies. It isn't pla rah. There is something in it that makes me want to spit it out. Fucking disgusting things!!!

Your food always looks fantastic, I'd wolf that down if I hadn't given up red meat(is duck red?). Would probably pass on the peas though.
