But it isn't always cheaper to buy foreign goods.

I shop at Lidl because it uses mostly Northern Irish suppliers for its meat, dairy and vegetable products. Yet it is much cheaper than foreign imports, they also pay their staff a decent wage as well.

I shop at M&S because it is not full of degenerate parasitic filth.

US reopening: What states are relaxing social distancing restrictions and moving away from lockdowns?
Joel Shannon
USA TODAY

Various social distancing orders across the USA helped slow the spread of the coronavirus, but states are feeling increasing pressure from protesters and at times the White House to relax restrictions. Some are outlining their plans to do so.

President Donald Trump, who announced guidelines Thursday for states to start opening their economies, cited a handful of states taking steps toward a "safe, gradual and phased opening," including Texas, Vermont and Ohio. He is pushing to relax the U.S. lockdown by May 1, a plan that hinges partly on more coronavirus testing.

Several states announced plans to coordinate their response with neighbors: California is moving forward in coordination with Washington and Oregon; governors from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island announced plans to form a joint task force.

Some restrictions have already been lifted. On Friday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gave some municipalities the green light to reopen beaches with restricted hours for walking, biking, hiking, fishing, running, swimming, taking care of pets and surfing. In Jacksonville, people enthusiastically flocked to beaches when they reopened, drawing criticism on social media. On Saturday, DeSantis said schools would remain closed through the end of the academic year.

Just back from Carrefour.

Last week no checks, no mask required.

But today temp check... 35,4 ! Well I knew I am a cool blooded bastard but good to have it confirmed.  The Miss who had stayed behind to buy some food, passes 5 min after me.  35,4 ... So much for calibration !  So in we go with mask, 10 sec later mask dangling on my chin. Cant stand the bloody things. Mind you, I was not the only one wearing it in the same style.  Got maybe 1 of 2 looks from some old pensioners... well, if they're scared of catching the pest from me, just stay at large.

Place is very quiete anyway and you seldom have somebody close (less than 3m) to you. Cashiers wearing full face front shield, and protected by a screen. OK for me, normal to enforce that if you're the employer.

Good they stay open, even I doubt they even break even considering how little customers. Good thing : ZERO Chinese.

Grab car on the way to and from. 20% tip to both.

"just stay at large" How large is large enough? Keep the following in mind if you're asymptomatic and you cough in the store. Just wear the fcking mask or stay home and let someone else do the shopping for you.

I agree 100%....I cant stand the masks....I wont voluntarally wear the blood things unless  required at a given location....The masks make it hard to breath when exercising....

Mixed messages from Germany as in some areas they are relaxing restrictions.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52352443

Thanks, an interesting article. Sounds like the picture is mixed in Germany, as different states are allowed to implement their own policies on how to exit lockdown?

Would love the UK to come up with just one proposed policy- that would be nice🙂

Tend to agree with this from the article in terms of the way to come out of this:

"German Chancellor Angela Merkel is a reference point for many in Europe: calm, authoritative and very careful about over-promising. Her chosen way forward is to test widely, then trace and quarantine those who've been in contact with newly infected individuals"

No one enjoys wearing them.

Can't be a problem surely to find somewhere will virtually zero people about to exercise without the mask? Where are you?

I'm in a very busy London borough, managed to run 5K yesterday early morning without getting within 10 metres of anyone.

FFS, so now the healthy people like me have to stay home because the fragile, at risk or simply scared people want to go out ?

Well, I dont wear the fcking thing, and anybody who is scared about catching anything should stay home.  Not the other way around.  If you cant swim, dont go near the water.

Anyway, cant drink a beer with a mask.

Everybody has heard about the C19 infection on two US aircraft carriers.

We have the same issue in France.

My point here is not about how and why it got on board, but simply to have a look at the numbers.

On the carrier group (carrier + escort ships)  of a total of 2.010 tests realized, 1.081 turned out positive, of which 545 symptomatic cases. 24 sailors were hospitalized, 2 in re animation. No fatalities atm.

On the carrier itself 1.046 of the 1.760 sailors were tested positive (60%). No info about hospitalization or fatalities, but if there were, and in important numbers it would be known.

Now of course those numbers can not be compared with those of a “normal” environment. On a ship you live, work, eat, and sleep all in the same confined spaces, and with a A/C -heater air circulation system that probably spreads the virus around 24/7. The average age is rather young, you don’t have many 50+ on a warship ….

But still gives an idea of the speed at which this thing can spread in a closed environment.

The above numbers are from 19/04.

On the other hand when I ask to my son, based on a Air Force base (5,000 persons) : nobody is sick, they have reduced the on duty staff, put in place some distancing at the cantine but no panic and no bodies piling up at the morgue…. It's an Army base, so people sleep probably 6 or 12 in the same rooms, use the same showers, watch TV / movies together etc....   But no pandominium.

So there is no one rule for all.
