John Denver was very "uncool" when I was coming up in the 70s & 80s...
Yet, he was a master of the ballad and is remembered fondly as one of the great contributors to pop music.

Man, there's some real stinkers in here.

For you rock and roll fans, you might know of a sub genre called "emo".  It is my shame.

Stick it out until 1:55 for the change.  It's masterful. <sob>

Wow, didn't expect to see that here.

I have always like it along with this one.

Nights in White Satin is an all time classic and often in my play list.

No need to apologise for liking that song at all.

Its not as if it makes us gay now is it! 🤣

It was an annual end of season Charity show made up of many of the stars appearing on the piers and theatres for the Summer season. Les Dawson was top of the bill, The Nolans, Lenny Henry, Keith Harris and that dam duck, as Parkinson used to to refer To Orville as, Joe Longthorne, Little & Large, thats all I can recollect. Wentone year when Ken Dodd was top of the bill, 4am when the show finished:default_biggrin:

Yeah Ken Dodd was well known for staying on stage for hours 😆

I used to go see Chubby Brown on North Pier back in the day and I saw Lenny Henry out and about in an old club under the Pembroke Hotel (I think he was staying there) it was notorious for grab a granny nights with the locals 🤣🤣

Les Dawson was brilliant and probably my favourite from all of them.

Ken used to say at the beginning of his shows.
“My shows are educational, you’ll stagger out into the middle of the night, 6 hours from now, shaking your head and saying to yourself, well, that’s taught me a bloody lesson”. 🤣

Yes,      if I just slapped it up there it wouldn't make much sense to have started the thread. That's the fun of it, being able to admit we all have some serious weaknesses. In my case often debilitating and ego crushing.    5555555555555555

I was a big fan of ABBA too, given their success, so were millions of others.

I don't think there has ever been a time I haven't teared up listening to that song. Very powerful piece of music IMO.
