I have everything all wrapped up now just in case..

I really don't mind it all except for the wankers squirting it in your ears with the blue tube thingys.. Ironically 2 of my helpers sell the damned things !!!

Boring day for me now, shredding piles of old documents, page by page and f*cking machine gets over headed after about 20 sheets and have to let it stand for 5 minutes.

I usually do that once per year, after all of the new documents have arrived.

Surprising how it all builds up!

My unit will cut out if I have too many to shread, I find keeping the blades lubricated with oil helps.

3 in 1 is my go to oil, but I have used cooking oil in the past to good effect.

What about WD40?

My old documents go into my woodstove once a year or so...

I have had a burn up outside in the past and it surprised me how hard it is to totally burn large packed wads of a4 paper. Obviously in an enclosed burner like yours, the heat is so high everything is gone!

These days I use a cross shredder for sensitive stuff and the rest of the paperwork goes into the recycling.

Never used WD40 on the blades before, you could try it, although it does smell.

Normal cooking rapeseed oil or sunflower oil will do the job!

Cooking oils contain unsaturated oils (fats).

The autooxidation of the double bonds present in unsaturated fatty acids
is the exothermic reaction at the origin of the self-heating process.
The degree of unsaturation of fatty acids directly influences the propensity
of an oil to undergo self-heating and, eventually, spontaneous ignition.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16225213/#:~:text=The autooxidation of the double,and%2C eventually%2C spontaneous ignition.

A pile of shredded vegetable oil soaked paper maybe a fire risk.
